Drivers like the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee's smooth engine, power, interior design, dependability, and 4WD. They dislike its poor acceleration and gas mileage.
What owners say
"Overall, owners love the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee for its performance, spaciousness, and off-road capabilities. Many reviewers appreciate its solid construction and reliability, especially in tough weather conditions. However, some drivers expressed concerns over repair costs and gas mileage, suggesting that maintenance can be a drain over time."
I love all the features this 2002 jeep Grand Cherokee has to offer. For the year this jeep is a great value. The only thing missing is one tons and a lift. There are other models, but I like the V8
October 24, 2020Performance- acceleration is very touchy, feels like you're being shot out of a cannon (I love it.) The brakes are also pretty sensitive but not in a bad way. I've had to replace them once already since buying it however. Handles amazingly, wide turns but that might just be my driving. Build Quality- this thing is built like a tank Appearance- I love it, can't speak for anyone else. Cost of ownership - terrible gas mileage but it's worth it. Fun factor- The most fun for off-roading. This tank can get you through pretty much anything.
July 1, 2009Great car, really happy about it. Had it now for 6 years and drove 200.000 km without any major problems. Comfy and spacy, great for kids.

January 8, 2008I seriously loved this car. Good acceleration and braking. Just like american cars the handling was too easy. I had solid build quality but like usual american cars the engine and tranny wasnt so good. I had to replace fuel pump too. 2002 was the best looking jeep grand cherokee in my opinion and in many opinions since it was the best selling grand cherokee jeep had. Gas mileage is bad but its fun as hell to drive. especially when you off road. the thing is a beast.
November 7, 2009awsome in every aspect, drives like a car with SUV size and power, quick off the line and can drive in any condition, awsome to drift in the snow and alot of fun to drive offroad, very minor problems and very reliable
October 1, 2009This is my 4th vehicle and I LOVE it! It is everything that I have always wanted. I drive it every where I need to go. Do a little off-roading occasionally. Plenty of space inside for passengers, groceries, and even for moving if we move again. I like sporty cars and the great outdoors and this vehicle is perfect for everything I enjoy. It isn't a sexy hot rod but who wants a vehicle that you don't want a scratch on. I don't want scratches either but I don't want to fret, this Jeep is bound to get scratches, especially when joy riding or off-roading. (=D)
July 8, 2009I love my Jeep because It has sporty performance and handling, off road capabilities, and luxury car interior style. I currently have 36,000 miles and other than preventative maintanence this car has not needed anything extra. I like the 2002 body style much better than the current more boxy design. In short it's fun to drive and the quadra drive II 4x4 system and electronic braking stability control has saved my behind more than once. It gets great gas mileage for a full time 4x4 with an HO 4.7L V8 at 18-22 MPG pending that you feed it the 93 octane.
June 28, 2008Great car. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. The V8 rocks. It is smooth and comfy as hell. Great rim's and tow's boats like a dream. Fun to drive and great looking to boot. I love this car.
December 14, 2010I love my Jeep! I have the 4.7 H.O in this 2002 JGC which gives alot more power then other WJ's. I actually just need a few mods done to it to give it 30 more hp to match up to the new redesigned 2010 4.7. I think that this JGC has comfier seats then the bran new JGC. Not to mention better steering. Everyone says the new jeeps have tighter steering. Lets all keep in mind this is a Jeep and its not meant to be a highway warrior but a off road warrior.
December 1, 20094X4 awesome truck. good offroad and has a smooth ride on pavement. performance is good in the truck has the 6 cylinder to get better gas millage. over all a very very fun truck to drive with lots of potential for upgrades
