Following on Toyota's five-year cycle for car redesign, the 2001 Toyota Rav4 was almost completely revised. Perhaps the biggest improvement was in the engine: a new 2.0-liter 4I engine added more horses, bringing the total to 128 horsepower and standard towing capacity to 1500 pounds.
The little SUV also grew a little, adding inches in height, width, and length. Reviewers were happy with the improved size, as it provided a little more elbow room for passengers, storage capacity for bags, while not making the vehicle too bulky or unwieldy.
Some reviewers noted a significant drop in gas mileage as the car aged, going from 23/27 to around 18/23.
I bought an 01’ Rav4 from a lady few days ago and it’s not getting spark and not starting it will crank but no start..I changed out the crank sensor and cam sensor but still nothing..I checked if I have an immobilizor but I don’t so it’s not that..I do not have a key fob but It don’t have an alarm....I’ve checked all possible fuses.really running out of ideas what it can be need help
i have a toyota RAV4 2001 (A2) and the message light to engine failure is always on,for no reason how can i reset it ?it is very irritating that it's always on. how can i reset it? or can it only bene done by a toyota dealer?

I just had the ECM replaced and the transmission rebuilt on my 2001 RAV4. The day after I got it back the check engine light came on. Mi took it back and the computer was saying it was an emmision problem. They said it was my gas capmnot on tight enough. 3 days later, same issue. Took it back and they said one of the hoses might not have been on tight enough. I took a look myself when I got home and found the loose lug in the picture. My question is, could this cause the check engine light to come on, or did the repair place unplug it to get the light to go out? Please help, Imfeel like I'm getting the run Around!
