2001 Nissan Xterra Review
Like both. Seats seem higher in back. More room in cargo area. Like my sun roof. Like emerancy break release better. I like Xterra cause of the sporty look. The truck engine. Doesnt look likeban over grown station wagon or a mini van.Dont like the new SUVs

Nissan Xterra — My 2001 Nissan Xterra runs and drives great. It is the most reliable vehicle I own. The back seat is small for two car seats a person to fit though. I haven't had to do many repairs beside maintenance. If they came with third row I would buy another.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliability

Cons: Back seat is small

Great All Around Vehicle For The Money — Keep up with the maintenance and it will keep up with you. My vehicle had 192,000 miles when it was sold. Changed the oil every 5k miles and did the major tune up with timing belt at 125k. That is the only thing ever done to this vehicle under the hood.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very reliable vehicle!!!
Decent Power
All around good vehicle for the money.

Cons: A little tight in the front for taller people (I'm 6'-3")
Could get a little noisy on the highway with racks on top
Window motors were not good quality
Fuel economy was around 17mph

Best Vehicle I Have Ever Owned — There is a small blind spot on drivers side, need to turn your head and look. ;) Very safe vehicle, looks great, has held up great through the years, did everything I needed it to, hauled bikes, four wheelers and the canoe. Got me to work and back through the snow easily!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: It rides great, low maintenance. I would buy another one if they would get the mpg up.

Cons: mgp

Good Family Suv. — I love everything about this SUV. It has been a good dependable automobile. Low maintenance and very reliable. Rear seats fold down for extra cargo room, with removable row bar. Includes first aid kit - for the safety of your family.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Only one owner. Everything works well. Good SUV. Good visibility.

Cons: Milage is fair for a SUV.

If Gas Wasn't So High I Would Buy Another One! — This car is perfect for someone living in a mountain town! This car is awesome in the snow, you will never have to worry about getting stuck or not getting to work. I have packed 5 people, 2 dogs and all of our ski gear numerous times a year for ski trips and its a perfect but tight fit. The elevated rear seats are also a nice touch!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Best 4wd car I have driven! and very low maintence. Large storage space also.

Cons: Low horsepower, but it is an suv.

It's Fun To Drive!!! — This car is great to drive for fun or for going to work. It has had to only have maintenance work such as a new battery, new tires, new breaks. It has never broken down, and I don't think it ever will. It has always been reliable.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Moon roof, 6-disc changer, towing package, roof rack

Cons: Has slow oil leak, gas milage typical of an SUV

Great College Car!! — Great Car! Its road manners are acceptable, but its no crossover or sedan. Off road is amazing and very capable. Its a bit of a gas guzzler and its not much of an accelerator. I have had no mechanical problems with it. The styling is appropriate and expressive of its off road prowess. The interior is plain, but practical. The front seats are not very comfortable, and there are very few controls for the seats. Over all I love it, but I am looking for an upgrade after it passes the 200,000 mile mark. Right now its at 135,000.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Reliable, fun, practical, safe, capable.

Cons: Not very comfortable, low gas milage, slow acceleration.

Great For The Price. — Most reliable vehicle. Small motor moving mid-sized suv so bad gas mileage. No frills car...very basic options. Poorly designed sunroof (not airtight). Roomy and comfortable interior. Feels like a tank. Handles great. Put many miles on it recently and have had no mechanical or body problems.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Dependable.

Cons: Poor gas milage.

The Sexterra — The Xterra is definately a very nice vehicle. It has just enough acceleration for a vehicle of it's size. It is very top heavy and you can feel a gust of wind easily and the rack on top makes some loud wind noise for the inside. In 4-wheel drive though it will just about go anywhere. I love the simple dashboard design. Short sweet and to the point and easy to operate. To be an SUV it has a nice sporty exterior. the back seats are actually elevated a little like in a theater so even the back passengers can be comfortable and see. The only issues really are the rust spots that come up along the body below the doors and the gas mileage. Gets abuot 13 city 15 highway and when gas was almost 4 dollars it took $60 bucks to fill it up for just 3 days. It is a very reliable vehicle. Cranks every time I jump in. IIt is fun in the mud, dirt, snow, pavement, wherever it can go.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Simple design, easily maintained, reliable

Cons: gas mileage, rust
