The Range Rover SE has been upgraded for 2001, with significant gains in power and towing capacity. The 188-horsepower 4.0 liter V-8 has been swapped for a 4.6 liter unit. Horsepower jumps to 222, and torque is raised from 250 to 300 pound-feet. The SE will now tow 6500 pounds.
The 2001 SE also receives more standard features. Headlight cleaners and an electro-chromatic rear view mirror have been added. Also included are steering wheel audio controls, full power accessories, a moon roof, a premium harmon/kardon audio system with a CD changer, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats with memory, keyless entry and heated mirrors.

Both the SE and HSE are now powered by the 4.6 liter V-8, and are supplied with 222 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The 5000 pound luxury SUV will tow 6500 pounds, and offer mixed driving averages around 14 mpg.
A standard navigation system sets the HSE apart from the SE. Features are otherwise identical.
