Sohc Engine Is Junk And Should Have Been Recalled — Had no way to know anything was happening, it sputtered and blew up, not something i had expected to have happen, and the automatic transmission shift solenoids go out frequently. No hope for these vehicles and I would never own another with that engine in it.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Other then the ease of maintenance I don't really have any pros for the split port sohc 2.0

Cons: At 106544 the vehicle with fresh oil dropped a valve and blew a piston, left me stranded an hour from home

Great 2nd Car — Great 2nd car, Ztech motor is awsome, put a timing belt on and good to go. When I bought it the rockers were completely gone so I found some trim from a Taurus and cut it down and it looks great. I'll post some pics when I can

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: good fuel economy

Cons: locks

Good Looking Transportation. — This car is reliable, looks nice and will save you some money at the gas pumps. Good storage for a small wagon. Too bad they aren't making this style any more. I enjoy driving it and the maintenance is minor and easy to keep up with. Good car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great reliable run-about car with ok cargo room in covered rear area.  Good mileage and good looks!

Cons: Not a Mustang or race car but gets you there cheaply.

Great First, Commuter, Or Small Family Car — Bought the car in March of 2001. It now has 200,224 miles on it. It still gets 29mpg in the stop & go daily commute, and 35mpg on the open highway. Kept up with the standard maintenance schedule, and it still runs and handles great. Acceleration is ho-hum, but at 130HP what do you expect? There were a couple of recalls & TSBs early on, but they were handled by the dealer. So far the only major component to fail that was not covered was the alternator at about 130,000 miles. The 5 speed shifter base is made from a plastic/composite material and is prone to breaking. I'm on my 3rd. Easily swapped in the driveway in less than an hour. Body/panel integrity is still solid, which is odd for a 12 year old car in the northeast. Interior holding up well, no split stitching or other tears. Front seats were pedestrian to start with, but no noticeable deterioration in the seat foam or springs. First clutch & brake jobs were performed at ~145K miles, per dealer inspection. All in all, it's been a great car. Economical and fun ride for a small sedan.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Handling, Interior Room, Int/Ext Stying, Trunk Space, Economy

Cons: Power a bit lacking

Reliable, Sporty, Fuel-efficient — I became a Ford enthusias because of the reliability of my first Ford Focus, so I bought a pre-owned Ford Ranger and I am happy about this truck that I begin to subscribe to the Ford Ranger forum and will start some upgrades to my 1996 Ford Ranger. Planning to save more money for investment, so I just love Ford's reliability, fuel-economy and low-repair cost.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very fuel-efficient, I was able to save downpayment to buy a new house in less than two years after I bought my Ford Focus ZX-3. I changed the stereo with Iphone dock and the Pioneer speakers installed makes great stereo sensurround while I am driving. Very minor problems like wiper and signal light but those are low-cost repairs. Sporty looking and I love the way the front seats can fold just by tapping it forward whenever there are extra passengers at the back.

Cons: Being a sporty small car, I use sand bags during the winter to add weight and make it drive better during snowfall

Sporty/ Commuter Car/ Reliable/ Fuel Efficient — I dislike having a hatch back back because you have to be more aware when backing out because you have a wider end. I dont like the car being a 2dr coupe because getting in and out with friends in the back is annoying having to move the seat. Also has a dummy shift light that drives me crazy if your off even by the slightest mile per hour. Nonetheless pretty good car, great condition for its year, reliable, and

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: good on gas, seats fold down in the back for more space, rides smooth, great commuting car, it has a sporty look but can also do the job for a family car. No problems only work done on it is tune ups when it needed it. Has brand new tires!

Cons: Not a great amount of space like a sedan. its a little noisey due to the aftermarket muffler which can be removed, turn radius is average not great.

My First Car — A very reliable car that behaves well. I was lucky to have this as my first car. It served me very well for around 8 years before starting to show signs of engine malfunction. Appearance wise it's not the most exciting car to go for, but as a first car it was great! The new Ford Focus looks amazing!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Everything you'd expect from a car!

Cons: Just a bit boring!

Not A Reliable Car — this car is a ok family car, but the engine is the worst design. it dropped a vavle seat at 130 K dont buy the 2.0 Spit Port induction. other then the engine its a ok car to have. and they have a little performance

Pros: great family car

Cons: the 2.0 SPI is the worst design engine and is not reliable

2001 Ford Focus Se Review — i love this car it's an amazing little fuel efficient car. i couldn't have asked for anything better. it's reliable and can carry anything i need it to haul. i love driving it it's got racing transmission and is an amazing little race car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: it's a racing little s.o.b and is the most reliable car i've ever had.

Cons: the only thing i didn't like about the focus at the time was that i had to learn to drive standard but that's all good now that i can drive her.
