Is a California Catalytic Converter different from a 49 state model?
Check engine light throws code saying catalytic converter is problem. Car originally sold in California. Can't find anyone with a California cat listing.

The 2000 Honda Insight is the first hybrid (gasoline/electric) automobile in North America. With fantastic fuel economy, this is certainly technology to take seriously.
The engine that runs this machine is a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder motor with the electrical backup used to assist acceleration. The battery of this electrical system is well designed so it is a regenerating source of energy. The biggest drawback is that under conditions of constant acceleration, the battery will drain.
The Insight comes with a specially designed 5-speed manual transmission for maximizing fuel efficiency. In combination with an aerodynamic exterior design, this car is capable of going up to 70 miles on one gallon of gasoline.
To purchase a 2000 Insight that is in good condition will cost between $10,000 and $11,300. There are still improvements that need to be addressed in order to provide better stabilization on windy or bumpy roads. Also, in the process of building a lightweight vehicle, the cab design is rather crowded.

It would be better if the dealer actually had one. This generation Insight is the best example of hybrid technology that was available from a regular auto manufacturer. Unfortunately, it was dropped by Honda in favor of a system more like the relatively inefficient Toyota Prius. If you can find one, buy it!Nov 01, 2020

Bought in 2005, this car is a daily commuter and road trip warrior. Depending how you drive it - I've average between 65 and 45 MPG. Tinted, blacked-out rims, subwoofer and custom 6x9 rear speakers - I love this car.
Overall, a total of $1,000 put into this car for mechanical related issues (expensive fuel sensor) but nothing else (tires and oil changes).Sep 14, 2013

Aluminum and plastic this car only weighs 1600 lbs., I tow it behind my RV and don't know it's there, Comfortable for long distances, if the sun goes down and the gas stations all close, so what? Just keep driving until dawn, great car for crossing the country quickly and cheaply. When the batteries are not acting up it drives VERY well, sporty, and quiet. I still have YEARS of warranty on the batteries, likely I will never need to pay for any repairs on them, and the dealer repaired them after showing the issue of recalibration to them.Jul 17, 2013

75 MPG can't beat this, Vera cute !!! The EGR Valve is little twiky, but couple or drops down the road should't affect my long to stay opinion. Honda of America just replaced the Batt with a fresh ones, so we good to go for another 150k miles and plus.Highly recommended for people on a tight buget like myself and rest of the most humans. If you run out of battery, you have to operate the clutch differently and the car runs slow. Otherwise it can get up to 65 Miles per gallon on the highways. In the city it is more like in the 50s which isnt bad either.Jul 26, 2009

There is a lot of road noise on the freeway. It has an excellent turning radius. The gas mileage is amazing! The batteries that were originally put in go dead, but Honda replaces them under warranty. The interior is skimpy to save on the weight, but not having all the extra stuff is nice. The outside takes some getting used to with the wheel skirts, but I have come to like it. Overall it is a joy to drive and I look forward to getting every time. Dec 09, 2008

This has been an amazing car in both quality and alot of fun to drive. Standard shift with enough pep to get up over the hills in a quick fashion. Gas milage has been 50-70 miles a gallon depending on hot or cold weather. It has 221,000 miles on the car and look forward to keeping it for one of the kids or grandchildren. Dec 08, 2008

I just purchased my insight . all systemswork fine. only my 2 front orange running lights dont work on parking lights or headlight position. they do work as turning signals. Any ideas??
