New this year in the Audi A4 lineup is the 1.8T Sedan, featuring a new 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder, 150-hp turbocharged engine. The comfortable family sedan gets a little more affordable with this addition. Featuring front-wheel drive and a 5-speed manual transmission (5-speed auto optional), the 1997 A4 1.8T Sedan comes with plenty of nice safety features, including traction control, ABS brakes and dual front airbags. For driving pleasure, it also offers cruise control, air conditioning, fog lights, power mirrors, windows, and locks, remote trunk release, and intermittent wipers.
Various packages add heated seats, a ski bag, sunroof, a trip computer, and special sports seats. You can also get performance tires and a lower sports suspension in the Sports Package. Biggest customer complaint is dealer service and high repair costs. Limited legroom in the back and worthless cupholders also rank high on the complaint list. But drivers love the handling, comfort, and style of the 1997 A4 1.8T Sedan, and its solid and smooth ride.
