It's slow and not exactly what you would call a hotrod. On the otherhand, it is a good car if you are looking for something reliable with good gas milage. It isn't a car that you would want to get if you are planning on going racing.

Excellent running car. Over 200,000 miles and counting. It has needed several minor repairs over the past two years but this is to be expected with an older vehicle. It runs very well and gets great gas mileage! Overall it's been a great vehicle and it's reasonably entertaining to drive too!

All in all a fantastic car if maintained. Parts are still easy to come by, and the 1.9L 4 cylinder is simple enough to perform most operations in the driveway. My experience with Ford in general taught me that they didn't manufacture any good transmissions, but with such low miles, 52k, I have yet to find any problems.

Bought in early January '08, a complete shed. Now has: RS2000 alloy wheels, GTi half leather interior, leather steering wheel, clean interior and detailed exterior.

Great first car, could carry all my stuff or 5 people. Even with a lawn mower engine with the 5 speed I could break the tires loose. Back seat folds down so you can camp out. Great car for rally racing.

Its not bad. Doesn't have a lot of power, and it shakes and rattles a lot, but then again its 15 years old. The only major money grab is gas, and trying to make it look nice. But its not a bad little car at all.

I love this car! Its a four banger with a 5 speed manual n about 170k miles on it. If you treat it nicely, you can squeeze 41+ miles to the gallon out of it. The only downside is that when parts go bad they all go at once. I just put a brand new clutch in and replaced the exhaust, now it purrs like a kitten.

Good Reliable gas saver. Performance Is horrible, The engine has trouble getting the car up to highway speeds, but for 30 mpg i will take that, Never has broke down on me, and i have driven it places it never should have gone, If you're careful enough, you can drive places most people think you need a pickup to get to.

It has 89 horsepower.... its slower than my lawnmower

1995 Escort Saloon 1.6 Zetec. Misfired all the time, never found out the cause. Other than that, it was alright.

average family car with lots of room for carrying large objects. only draw back is it's age now. still doesn't burn oil. gear box is wonderful. not fast but again fast enough. all in all a great car. if only it was newer.

Had my car for 6 years now, theres nothing special about it, but it gets me from A to B and passed it's MOT again this year so not going to complain! Obviously would prefer a newer/faster/sportier car but who doesn't!!!

The performance of this car is pretty good, it has a 6V motor, reaches to 100MPH in 10 seconds which isnt so bad for a car of the 1995s, the cost of the ownership was about $1.200. its a good car and it runs good and cheap on gas. it would be a good car to start up with....

Having designed the car in 1988-89, i waited until i had set up my own Design Consultancy, and after a year, felt that i should treat myself to one of the last cars produced. I even had a friend arrange to buy it, using his Ford Company car discount scheme, and so was able to get the higher Lux spec as well. I used the car as my regular daily transport, for some 60000 miles between 1995 and 2000, despite attempts by several t-nucs to try to steal it. I drive it today when i need a "s*it day by-pass", as it gets the cobwebs out of your brain, and gives you true automotive thrills, by the bucket load. Plus it still has the ability to turn heads and respect from small boys and lifelong petrol-heads.

Yes it's a Cossie. For those of you not familiar with the term cultural icon here is 1 for you. Look & learn. Afficiandos will note that it's the more drivable, less tunable small turbo version with the unusual delete aero option. Own 1 before the fuel runs out or you'll regret it for the rest of your existence.

Handled amazing, looked ok, and was quick for that type of car. I would take it over a civic or integra anyday.

Great car on gas, but of course she was a stick shift, which made her fun to drive. Didn't have to do a whole lot of work to this car just get in an drive. I got my money out of her for the time I owned her. Tough little car, it took a beating and keep on going. It is still going today. The friends that brought it still drive it daily. Great car for a first time driver.

the transmission seems to be the only thing wrong like it has an automatic transmission but have to shift it. overall its a really gret car to drive it'll live long and not die... hopefully. the brakes work and doesnt really have any rust.

I payed 40 pounds so cant complain. it starts and drives. its reliable and not a smokey noisey banger.. only 84k on the clock to so thats a plus. Its nippy and easy to drive. not too many creature comforts but it is a ford not a mercedes. hasnt let me down as of yet.

cost to much to run and road tax keeps going up no cd player seat too hard handed ok good mileage on it it was fun to drive braking was ok needed repairs to the boot the interior was ok lights ok acceleration good alarmed go over 75 and you can hear a rattle in it

Loved this car (while it ran). It had a lot of room and good gas mileage but performance was sluggish, as would be expected. I didn't have to pay for a lot of regular work on the car until it died completely. Fun to drive if I was a grandma.

fun car fast handles well looks good for its age (not dated) rare colour not something you see everyday

Firstly its not a 2 dr gt. its a 2 door rs2000 4x4. i love the four wheel drive, it makes the car handle beautifully, and if you want to go nuts just push it a bit and you have some proper isideways fun!!! and the arse hugging recaros are lovely!! could do with a touch more power.

It has been a very dependable car with excellent gas mileage. Good grocery getter. Not alot of umph. Other than oil changes and the usual maintaince work this car has given me years of very dependable service. Am close to 200,000 miles .

Not a bad car. Very average. I had the saloon version. Not a high spec version so not much to go wrong. semed to attract vandals and dents.

It was an escort wagon. It took my abuse and is amazingly still on the road. Actual photos from about 6 months ago. Sold in 2001.

I like this car because its just a standard lookin' car from the outside, but under the bonnet is a 2.0l 4 wheel drive baby

I bought it from a family member who was the first owner. At 130K, and seventeen years of age, it's now going through its change of life. I hear that they can turn out to be fairly durable... but I'm not sure that I have the patience to find out the end of the story.

For the time it was Kewl and fun. In a PURPLE color of all. But of course it had FORD build quality of the time... But it was a fun car. and a practical one with the hatch and all

Pros: It was a good first car for me. It wasn't that uncomfortable, even though I was 6'3 and 270 lbs. It NEVER broke down. I had a fouled spark plug once, took me 3 minutes to diagnose and replace. Gas milage was awesome. I barely ever had to put gas in this thing. It didn't have hubcaps! It got me wherever the hell I wanted to go, cheaply and effortlessly. Cons: In less than a year, I had to go through 9 tires, due to vandals slashing them. Someone stole my radio, in my rage I kicked the fender in, lmao. This car has 88 horsepower. It is not for anyone looking for a powerful car. My 16 year old balls were blue due to this total lack of power. The interior was like an odd mixture of tan with fruity rainbow colored stuff on the seats. Ew. This car was not fun to drive at all. Cons for me: I associate this car with quite a numerous amount of ex girlfriends. Ew x2. I totalled it. Sweet points on my insurance, dood!

The Escort is what makes rebuilding the Camaro possible. For that, I like this car. Performance is in the toilet, but I can haul stuff about with the wagon. It is easier to get the children in and out too. I'm not winning any awards with this car but that's not the goal.

It gets from point A to point B, and it has flames, but it's nothing special.

Bought as a sensible runaround August last year - has done 12k of HARD driving and still is sweet as a nut!!! :) - might spend some money on her and keep her too :)
