The 3.0 is lacking in power. No major problems yet at 145,000+ miles. Comfortable seating. The rear seating is no place for passengers...too cramped
February 19, 2008This was and still is my favorite vehicle ever. Not just because it was my first car but because it was me. The manual transmission made me feel like i was part of the car. It was tough and could go through about any thing i put it through. The 3.0L V6 was just enough to push the truck to highway speeds up hills here in western PA but it did it with no complaints and with or with out a load. The best part was the sound. It didn't sound like a truck with a small V6. It sounded like a little sports car with a performance v6 or even a small v8. Gas mileage was pretty bad for what it was, but i think it was my driving. I usually got 14 - 16 mpg. My dad managed 22-25 mpg. With the added visor, running boards, fog lights, tool box, and tonneau cover it looked sweet. It was almost unbreakable after the electronic four wheel drive was removed at about 60,00 miles. I will miss this truck forever.
August 28, 2008My Pickup Truck kicks ass! It has nearly 265000 miles and hasn't given me much trouble at all. I love how high off the ground it sits and how useful it is. I wish it was a little faster but its a fun truck. The interior has held up well with no sqeaks or rattles. The 4.0 liter v-6 is the way to go, it has plenty of low end torque and can really spin some tires when equipped with the 5-speed manual. The parts are cheap too and its been way more reliable than anything we've owned from GM. GM fans can beat it!

August 6, 2008I owned this truck for several years after retiring the Corolla. It was fun and served me well. I bought it with 12,000 miles and had it up to 80,000 in only 3 years. It was an awesome pizza delivery vehicle and made trips from Phoenix to Cali once a month for about a year. I took it places it shouldn't have gone and it hung in there like a big truck. Never had a problem with it!
May 18, 2008all in all its a good fun little truck. there are a million parts available as they made tons of the trucks (including mazda b2000), didnt change them a whole lot. plus, they put the v6 vulcan engine in the taurus as well. very sturdy suspension and good handling for a truck. no grip in winter without sand bags in this 2wd model. good mpg as well.
August 10, 2012It's a nice comfortable ride, also my first four wheel drive, kind of excited to go play with it! Acceleration's beautiful for a v6, brakes great, handles like a sportscar. Just got it today, so I don't know too much about the repair costs yet... It's fun to drive so far!
September 12, 2011These trucks are great. I have a 4.0 liter V6 with a 5 speed manual transmission. Good gas milage and awesome power. Pretty low cost. Great vehicle to drive. Doesnt have too many problems as far as mechanical issues. As long as the maintenance is kept up they will run for a very long time.
March 31, 2009This baby was mine for nearly 5 years! Never would have imagined a Ford product could last this long. Bought with 100,000 miles and sold with nearly 170,000 rough service miles. Performance was an entertaining drive at times. She handled and braked like a champ!! Build quality was relatively decent for a blue oval product. Interior was sparse and blah. Exterior was slicker than snot on a door knob with my little bit of customizations. Averaged 20-21 mpgs but managed to reach 28 mpg on a trip to St Louis once.
August 26, 2008Very reliable truck. Got a lot of pep left in it for having a four cylinder, 5 speed manual with over 200,000 miles. Handles great too.
April 11, 2008This is a nice, inexpensive truck, but the underpowered 89 horsepower engine makes it difficult to drive on modern freeways. If you're looking for a truck that'll get you around town and hold a decent amount of cargo this is great, but it is not the most powerful truck ever.
