1991 Ford Ranger XLT Standard Cab LBReview

Can't Beat Ford Reliability. — Can't really ask for more from a little truck like this one. Hauled more than imaginable. I think I put close to the weight of the truck in the bed before and that was with bad leaf springs and rear shocks. It got totaled within a month of me replacing the springs and shocks. It's reliability was undying (got driven away from my house after being "Totaled"). Maintenance was cheap and easy. It was really fun to drive and had amazing handling. The only problem I ever had with it was that I wish I could build up the engine and make it faster, but of course, I guess I could've if I put the money into it. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: GREAT little truck. Always underestimated. Cons: Not at all under powered, (surprising torque actually, even with the heaviest load) but left a lot to be desired in speed. Granted, it was a stock, base model compact pickup truck, not exactly a model of high performance but I always wished I could build up that invincible little 4 banger. |

Very Durable — slow acceration, alright gas mileage, power minimal, hard to pass people. looks cool but no speed at all with the 2.3L horrible in snow but good in rain. very easy to see out of and around. little to no modifications can be made to it. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: you can drive the crap out of it and it just takes it Cons: power |

I Wouldn't Hesitate To Buy Another Ranger. Great Trucks — The truck accelerates decent for turning 33's with stock gearing, it brakes well, and handles like a lifted truck. I've replaced the usual things, bushings here and there, new clutch and slave cylinder. I personally like the interior and exterior styling, besides the typical Ford rust. My ranger gets approx 14MPG city 18 highway (keep in mind it is a 2.9 with 33 inch tires) The maintnence is manageable, just keep the fluids changed at proper intervals and its in good shape. I love my ranger, its fun to drive does great off road and it is a head turner. I would buy another one and recommend a ranger to a friend Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Its badass Cons: If you are gay |

Good Little Dependable Truck That Gets Awsome Gas Mileage. — I like the fact that it gets 21mpg. The one thing i don't like is that the 2.3's lose their edge. I paid $475 for it, needs tires and a clutch. The truck is resonably fun to drive. It's just a 2wd ford ranger nothing special. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Cheap on gas, cheap to insure. Cons: It's a ford, and the motor's aren't all they are hyped up to be. |

Good On Off Road Truck — This was a very strong working truck had 396,000km when i sold the truck still ran strong. good off road low range you could go anywhere. lot of power in the big v6 for towing or halling. if you were looking for a mide size older truck to have fun with this truck would be a good choice for anyone. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: go anywhere Cons: hard on gas |

Great Little Truck For Those Who Don't Need A Full-size — Boasts the acceleration, handling, and braking characteristics of a municipal stadium. Great in the mud though, always finds it's way out. Well except for that one time... Fairly reliable little truck, was a bit of a basket case when I got it due to owner neglect. Now sports a Texas box and fenders and a nice coat of olive drab. 351W on the way. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Solid Cons: Not the smoothest ride on the planet |

A Ton Of Fun Can Be Had. — Performance- Acc. = excellent! Braking = Very good. Handling = High C.G. Yet cornered well. Build Quality- It needed a bed, exhaust (muffler and aft), and all u-joints. It sounded better without the muffler. :) Appearance- Was a 91 with a red cab and a blue bed, not much to look at. Simple gray interior, very utilitarian. Cost of Ownership- Mileage ran from 18 up to 21 depending on what your doing. Maintenance was fairly simple. Fun Factor- This truck was a lot of fun and I wish I had another one. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Fun! Reliable. Cons: Its a ford! |

Nice, Fun To Drive Truck. — This is my 1991 Ford Ranger XLT Ext. cab truck. I bought it when it was all stock.. and now it is a show truck. it is not finished yet though. EXTERIOR- it has a billet grill, cowl hood, clear corners, strob lights, roll pan, shaved tail lights, straight pipe, lowered 3in. in the front, thing at the front of bed, and a custom bed cover. it does look good, but it will look ALOT better when its all done INTERIOR- Most show trucks have a all custom interior, but mine is all stock. Because it was in near perfect condition when I bought it. I didnt want to mess it up. PERFORMANCE- It is a great handeling truck. We had to replace the transmission a couple of weeks ago, but other then that its a great little truck with no major problems. It has the stock V6 motor in it now, but I'm hoping to put a V8 in it. FUTURE MODS- Lower it more, shave the tail gate latch, shave the door handles, put a V8 in it,and custom paint Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Real head-turner Cons: The bed is tubbed, but the truck isnt. |

Ranger — This truck is in pretty rough shape cosmetically. The engine is still strong but it needs a new throw bearing. It has 2 inch body lift so it look a little bit meaner then most trucks on the road(especially with 33" tires). Pros: V-6 Cons: 4x4 not connected, rusty, throw bearing is gone |

Solid — My 91 Ranger has started every time. it is dependable. It is also a solid built truck. It gets up to speed pretty quick. It has a few scratches. It could be a little better on gas. Overall I love driving this truck. Pros: dependable Cons: not good on gas |
