I Can't Get Rid Of It — I like all of the interior features but the outside of the car could use some work. I think it's because of the old paint job and the dull look it gives. It just doesn't shine like some of my other cars.

Pros: It's a pretty good looking car

Cons: It's really old and doesn't run that well

Love The Appearance, Not Much Fun Of The Performance — Shift heavier. Gas mileage was not great but has all the luxury settings an old car can have, heated seat and automatic seat adjustment. Some of the newer cars do not even have all these. Style is OK consider it is an 1991 car

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Bought cheap, It's an Audi

Cons: very heavy

Audi 91 Best Car Ever — best car we have got needs sum work now like new shockes and tires. bloody quick good handling and if u tune them u can get over 1000 bhp out of them. they are quite rare now so it will be a challenge to get hold of a good one. its fun to drive. u will be able to get 25mpg on a good run. appearance of the car is a bit boxey but still looks sporty and suttle

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: fun and quick and a bargin to buy

Cons: tires go quick

'91 Audi 90 Quattro 20v — Great fun in the snow. Kissin cousin to the original Audi Quattro Coupe with the 20V minus the turbo. Bought this a a winter beater, but it turned into a bit of a project. Love the sound of the 5 cylinder. Harder and harder to dig up some parts though.

Pros: Great early Quattro drive train with diff locks.

Cons: Parts, parts, parts...

Audi 5 Cylinder At It's Best —

To hear the words "2.3 litre 5 cylinder engine" doesn't exactly stir people into fits of anxiety. Most will ask you how a 5 cylinder can possibly work... Audi has proven it can, and extremely well. For over 10 years, the 5 cylinder engine was a staple of the Audi family line-up. Most cars could be optioned with it and even the first of the top-performance 'S' series of Audi used the magnificent 5 cylinder (oh, they also had a bit of a reputation in rallying. A bit...). When Audi made a double over-head cam, 4 valve per cylinder version they unleashed a totally new beast. This was a well-proven, durable and reliable engine that now had enough power to seriously excite. And that was before they bolted on a turbo. The car I've driven (quite often) is a naturally aspirated 20v quattro. The engine sings for it's supper, and the torque-sensing (TORSEN) quattro system makes this a seriously potent little machine. The only limit to how fast you want to corner is how big your bal.. er, bravados, are. First gear is a bit short, and low down the rev range isn't where the excitement is. It's only once the tacho needle is screaming it's way around to the 7000 RPM redline that things start to get interesting. So unless you bag it up and drop the clutch off the line, it tends to bog down on take-off. It makes up for it when it's moving though, and in-gear acceleration is impressive. Get the right gear and the right revs and the punch from that engine is staggering. Parts prices can make you cry, and being well over 15 years of age now, they're all going to require some work. I couldn't drive it every day though. I'd lose my license! Imagine what a turbo version is like?!

Pros: 20v 5 Cylinder engine, quattro four-wheel drive, Audi build quality. Plain-looking rocket.

Cons: Some parts and repairs expensive (it's an Audi!), quite rare.

The Audi 90 Quatrro — I bought this car in 2006. These Audi 90's Quattros are rare. Superb 5 cylinder engine kicking out around 175bhp. Superb Handling with the 4X4. Body work is good as they were rust proofed. Interia is what let these down very basic.

Pros: Handling, reliability, build quality.

Cons: weak head gaskets, poor interior.

Good car but slow, only 130 hp 5 cylinder and the car is heavy. Reliable, bought it when it was 4 years old and kept it for ten years and 150,000 miles. Quattro all wheel drive was great in the snow. 5 speed manual transmission was standard on Quattro version and was well liked.

says:
I own an early build 90 20v quattro. I absolutely love this car. Despite the awful Hitachi electronics and unobtainium components, it is surprisingly reliable for a 28 year old car. The quattro AWD system in these cars are second to none and handle very predictably in any weather condition. As an added bonus you get the unmistakably beautiful noise of the 20v 5 cylinder engine that moves this amazing machine. Try to resist smiling after opening the throttle in a tunnel. I dare you! Im sure, if properly maintained this car will last another 20 years.

Power Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox worse.
"Its got a 20v 5 cylinder with 165 hp. The only thing better than that is the 20v turbo that came in the C4 URS cars."
Handling Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox better.
"Its a toss up between the two. I actually think the audi handles better because of the quattro, but it feels heavier in the bands and less connected to the road (feel) partly due to the Foxs lack of power steering and light weight. It felt like a go cart. "
Looks/Style Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox better.
"I have a strong bias toward wagons dontgetme wrong. The b3 sedans are gorgeous, but theres something about the two-door wagon that gives me the butterflies."
Front Seats Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox worse.
"Two words. Heated leather."
Back Seats Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox worse.
"Theres just barely leg room for a child in the wagon. Any adult passengers I had in the back were uncomfortable. The 90 seats 4 adults comfortably."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox better.
"Mine is a wagon. Fold down the seats and fill er up. Dont expect to get a 4x8 sheet of plywood in it, but compared to the 90 its no contest. I have a smallish sub box and 2 amps in the trunk of my 90 and maybe enough room for a paper grocery bag or two if Im lucky. Reason being is that the b2/b3 chassis Audis had a 15 gallon fuel tank wedged in the trunk over the rear axles (I assume for traction). "
Value Ranked 1988 Volkswagen Fox better.
"It cost a scant $900. In great condition no less. The audi cost $2300."
