The 1990 Ford Aerostar was Motor Trend's "Truck of the Year". This may seem odd, seeing as the Aerostar is actually a minivan, but it was built on the ever-popular Ford F-150 chassis, rather than on a car chassis like many competing models in the minivan class. Despite its lack of power under the hood (the entry-level plant was the 2.8 liter, 115-horsepower Cologne V6, and the biggest optional upgrade available was to a 4.0 liter Cologne V6 clocked at 155 horsepower, which was not a lot for its 3400-pound curb weight), the '90 Ford Aerostar appealed to buyers looking for sturdy transportation. Trimlines available for the 1990 Aerostar were the standard, XL, XLT, and Eddie Bauer. A new Extended bodystyle was introduced in this model year, which boosted cargo space even more in this already roomy van.

This is my Family van . It looks like crap but it does the job good.Its very good for road trips and things like that.I like my family van cuz it has personality i think lol!!!oh and its green lmao

This van was a sort of a compromise/donation from the in-laws. I needed a vehicle, they needed to get rid of a vehicle. After cleaning 90 years of cigarette smoke out of it, the van really was sort of fun to have. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't "Cool", but it ran well, had no major mechanical problems, had a radio (with tape) and locked. The display on the radio went out, but i guess that's typical with 90's Fords. It was definitely a benefit to have hte extended model, the extra storage was nice. Aug 23, 2008

I like the van can go any where i live in missouri and you need four weel drive. it won,t start sounds like fuel or injectors ? I put a new alternator on three days ago could that have any thing to do with it. PLEASE HELP Feb 17, 2008

Dome light master switch added !! 1988 Aerostar
I have an 1988 Aerostar ( ok U can start laughing ......) that I rebuilt from the ground up , new engine , new 5 spd trans , etc (Ok really laugh again please , just get it out of your system ...LOL ! ) ... Once the electrical and transmission problems are solved , these vans kick ass ! Most of the electrical is the stupid connector at the fire wall where naked wires are touching wires there , easy fix ! The dome light is an issue Ford didn't address BUT I DID something cool... Whenever any doors are open , I can hit the "master dome control switch" and the lights are OFF ! I wish I could post a pic of this along with the cool idea of having an door lock switch (that I also added for lock/unlocking if you are in the back seat area ) next to the master dome control switch- all on the air conditioner hump thing on celing . None of this was Fords better idea but this made my day !
