Buy One If You Can Find One For Sale. But Good Luck With That. — There are a few things that I don't like about this car. 1. The interior looks dated by today's standards where the 1990 interior looks MUCH better. 2. It's FWD. 3. Solid rear axle. 4. SOHC I love everything else about this car. It's the perfect sleeper. I still find the exterior styling beautiful. For what it is it's a great car.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Great sleeper. Nobody ever sees it coming.

Cons: The only reason to avoid one is the fact that they're old.

A Very Fun Car — I own a Lebaron GTS, the five door hatchback one. Acceleration is awesome with the T1 turbo in it. It needed a head gasket, buy only the Mopar Performance ones. Car is blast to drive, have blown away some V8's !!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fast, a real sleeper !!!

Cons: Need to use a good synthetic oil and join a car club

1989 Chrysler Le Baron Convertible — it takes about 20 seconds to go to 60. its a power top convertible. one of the rear window actuaters is broken so its bolted up. it gets an average of 18 mpg. i would really like to have the turbo motor.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: convertible. power top and windows. nice interior

Cons: one window is broken, faded "mako" paint. dented in two places, bondo-ed in one.

Awesome Reasonably Priced Performance Convertible For The 80's — Mine was the high tech (for 89) 2.2 intercooled 5 speed GTC. This car does everything well and has an awesome drivetrain. Mine was well modded and made about 280hp (est. crank rating) on the stock GarretT2 at its peak. I kick myself for selling this car more than anything. Easily a mid 13 sec car with a lot of potential.

Pros: intercooled turbo engine, 5 speed trans, big disc brakes, handsome, great interior, great sleeper performance when modded.

Cons: could be lighter, I sold it, convertible top not the most durable.

Fun But Breaks Down — In the summer time it's fun to have due to the convertible top and the turbo. In the winter, it sucks. Great for a first car and I still drive it when I come back home, but only if its sunny out.

Pros: convertible, picks up girls, decent acceleration, GREAT gas mileage, has personality

Cons: built by chrysler aka it breaks down a lot and you will invest time and money into it

Short Skirt And A Long Jacket. (google It) —

Not a bad old thing really, Fuel consumption is high, but no other complaints so far. For a £400 Twenty one year old car, it's impressive that everything still works (more or less). The drive is good, a few odd noises here and there. Handling is something to get used to at best, especially when cornering (now I know why American roads are straight) But once you get used to it, it's a problem free drive. Performance. The Shelby developed K series 2.2 turbo with the Holley carb' give the GTC all it needs to hold it's own against most modern cars in it's class (boy racer / coupe / drive it like I stole it) , it pulls and pulls and pulls... I bend the needle at 125Mph, where the speedo runs out, the acceleration does not. Individuality. You won't see many the same wherever you go. Seems the K engined GTC (2-door coupe) is something of a rarity in the UK but most of what I say here covers the cabrio as well. Looks... Opinion is divided, it's a love it or hate it car. Is this car fun to drive... OHHH YES !!! *** RELIABILITY UPDATE*** Just an FYI for potential buyers of a LeBaron... If it's a 5 speed manual transmission, be VERY picky about gearbox noise. Current bill for gearbox repairs on this 1989 GTC... £1700 and rising. (has been off the road for nearly 5 months waiting for parts) If you're not a dedicated owner/lover of this particular vehicle with manual trans'.....I wholeheartedly recommend you go for the automatic.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Fun, rapid, cheap, most spares available within 10 days. Some parts may take eons to arrive and cost £££

Cons: Fuel consumption, electrical problems, sun glasses caddy catch failed, tyres £150 each, gearbox... INCREDIBLY expensive and time consuming to have rebuilt. (but worth it in the long run).
