Keep in mind this is an old truck. The 4.0 6cyl engine is bullet proof, if you take care of it it will last you about 500k, of course it depends on the shape that you get it, interior is decent, pretty basic totally 80s retro, transmission is reliable, however most of us will have to spend money to upgrade a bunch of stuff.
It is a pretty good fixer upper unless you buy one for 12k.Apr 09, 2021

The truck is great on gas. Ir performs on and off road really good just stock. It never needs major repairs. It looks great and even now being over 20 years old it still looks great and has almost no rust. It is a blast to drive on and off road. The only bad thing about it is you cant find new tail lights for it once broken. So dont break a tail light

Performance is more than adequate, handles very good for a lifted vehicke, and
still tows plenty. Build quality is excellent, but don't get the 5 speed til 1990, also
opt for the 4.0, you'll be glad you did. Appearance is 80's obviously, yet plenty
modern enough. Mileage is the only place it really suffers, between 12 and 16
average. Maintenance is cheap and they are fairly cheap and easy to modify. It is

Awesome Truck! Awesome acceleration for a jeep/little truck. 5spd was great! light rear end made it fun! Any old jeep had unmatched quality, but also it was handled with care. Good appearance, lines were great, but the paint was a little faded... who cares! WICKED FUN to drive! Apr 01, 2010

Its an overall awesome truck. A good daily driver and a good
off roader. Not much maintenance need other than minor
things. Gas mileage is around 10MPG. Its alot of fun to drive
being a little bigger than most. Being able to take it off road
and use it for a work truck is a great advantage.Feb 24, 2010

This is a solidly built piece of history. Extremely durable light truck. Getting harder to find. Great on and off road performance. Ample braking and acceleration. Everyone that has driven it has had a blast drive it on and off road.Jun 30, 2009

Had the 2wd version, and even at that it would go through anything!! It LOVED the snow and was responsive to both throttle control and steering! It was the sport version, with a quality sound system and road noise sound proofing. It was not built with extended cab and I am sure that is the only reason it did not take off. Dec 19, 2008

Why is my oil pressure gauge bottom out past 80psi?
When I start my jeep the oil pressure gauge shoots past 80psi and stays there. When I shut the jeep off goes to 0. It doesn't slowly move to 80psi it just goes straight past 80psi as soon as it is on.

Why do I keep stalling when I dont press the gas
Drives but kinda loud and ruff. Then stalls sometimes either when I let off gas for to long or just startup but when I put gas it stays on.

why are my marks not lining up?
My timing chain is stretched. The marks on my sprockets line up but the mark on my crank wheel doesn't line up with the marks on the timing cover when cylinder 1 is at tdc compression stroke. Not too familiar with timing but so far it's been a pain in the ass. Couldn't get it running good to save my life. Every time I time my distributor with cylinder 1 at tdc it's backfiring and studdering if it even runs.

1988 Jeep Comanche Laredo 4x4 - Starts when it wants to. Could it be a Crank Sensor, Pick Up coil in the Distributor?
Does not always start. When it does start it runs good and no other issues.
