1986 Ford Ranger XLT Standard Cab SBReview

It's Been A Greet Get Around Car. — For how small and light the truck is I'm disappointed the gas mileage wasn't better. I do however love having complete visibility. As well as being able to park my truck just about anywhere because its so small but still being able to carry stuff in it because the engine is so strong. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: You can see everything around you and it accelerates pretty decent. Cons: Have to push brakes almost all the way down to stop. ![]() Looking for a Used Ranger in your area?CarGurus has 18,460 nationwide Ranger listings starting at $1,995. |

The Branger — I love this truck, my dad built it himself and we always ride in it. When we go muddin we are always the ones to pull the other people out of the mud ;) There is no other truck like it. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
Pros:
Custom
Cons:
Gas Mileage |

Love It — I Love this truck, 2.9L 5-speed, 4 inch rough country suspension lift and 30's, this thing is almost just as good as the 4wd's I play around with and keeps up with the V8's if I try hard enough lol Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: It's a Ranger! Cons: If you don't like rusty bedsides |

It's Been Rock Solid Reliable For The 6 Years I've Owned It. — It's lifted 6 inches with a skyjacker long arm kit, and rolls on 33 inch tires. It's locked in the rear, has on onboard air compressor, dual batteries, a 200 amp alternator, and a winch. I have built this all myself and I have roughly $10,000. invested in it so far. It's noisy and it doesn't handle that well but I love it. It's been pretty reliable and gets very good mileage for what it is, although it is a maintenance nightmare and requires constant looking over. It has been built from the parts of rangers and bronco II's from years 84,86,87,88,90,91,and 96 Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: It's all I have Cons: It's pretty slow |

Got The Truck For Free. With 260,000 Miles — The best littel truck I ever had. When i got it it was just supposed to get me through a coule months. It ended up lasting fro 4 years with no maintenence problems. However finally the transmission did go out and it was just not cost effectve to replace it. Pros: reliable, good on gas, (2WD version) Cons: Just don't expect to get anywhere fast. |

One Tough Little Truck — My little Ford Ranger was a tough little truck. I had it for over 10 years and only had a handful of break-downs to speak of. It wasn't the best on gas, but gas wasn't that expensive back then. It would tow my trailor with boat and hawl the lumber to the worksite. It was a fun, rugged little truck. Owner for 11 years, 2 months Miles Driven per Year:1,600 Pros: Could tow my boat and hawl lumber Cons: Interior size and options were limited |

Great, but in under 5 years new.... Rust at bottom of doors. Either bad seals, drainage, or paint/clear coat. Standard transmission hauls less cargo than the automatic version. Read More
