Needs A Full Rebuild — Weak 2.3L burns oil, gets about 10L for 100km, carburated, 4spd on the floor, body is in good shpae for an 84, frame has no rot, good for a project truck. Does good in the twisties for a truck. Parts are hard to find sometimes, which makes some repairs a waiting game. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: it's old school Cons: it's old |

1984 Ford Ranger — Performance - Acceleration was crap, it was quite a slow truck. Build Quality - Very solid, tough as nails truck, could take a beating and keep on going. Appearance - I liked the style, not all would. Cost of Ownership - Got almost 30 MPG, it had a 2.3L SOHC 4 Cyl., low maintenance. Fun Factor - quite fun to drive except when trying to get out into traffic! Pros: Fun little truck, very tough, and good on gas Cons: SLOOOOOWW |

It Has A Mind Of Its Own — the fact that is its a carb it makes it hard to start when it is 15 degrees outside. but anything warmer and it runs like a champ. Pros: awesome for small guys that want and economy pick-up, big bed for a small pick-up. Cons: if your taller than 5'9" good luck finding enough room, not fast and can't tow much. |

Best Cheap Truck Out There — I only had this truck for 2 months before a Ford F-150 blew a stop sign and sent her off to the scrap yard. In those 2 months, it was a good ride. I had no problems at all. I even still drove it for a month after the accident! It was ugly, it was slow, but it was tough as nails! Pros: Good solid truck for cheap Cons: Ugly and slow |

Spunky, Ez Start, Tough, Powerful, Blast To Drive — I traded my 92 Saturn SL1 for this Ranger 4x4 about 3 years ago. I was a floorcoverings installer and needed to carry about 800lbs of tools and gluey trowels everyday to and from my jobs. The Saturn wasn't cutting it even with the flip down rear seats ! I acquired a shell and hit the road. I'm impressed with the get up and go of the v6 in this truck. It starts with just one turn of the key every time, even on the coldest mornings. The two gas tanks are pretty cool too, as you can switch from one to the other on the fly. So one empties, at 65 mph and the truck starts to stall out, just flip the switch, pump the pedal a few times and its like nothing ever happened. The 5x7 bed is the perfect size for just about anything you need to carry. It's never overheated, even on very hot days driving very long distances. Owner for 3 years, 6 months Miles Driven per Year:40,000 |

Great, but in under 5 years new.... Rust at bottom of doors. Either bad seals, drainage, or paint/clear coat. Standard transmission hauls less cargo than the automatic version. Read More
