My MC sported a rebuilt 350 SB, tailed with a turbo 400 transmission along with a posi rear end with 3:11 gears. Dual exhaust with flowmasters. The wheels were off of a 1984 MC SS. The paint original, and the interior was swapped out of another MC that had bucket seats with the center console and floor shifter. In it's time, it turned some heads. thumbnail

The 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo was the first of third generation of Monte Carlos. The 1978 Monte Carlo was just under 800 pounds lighter than the 1977 model due to size reductions attributed to the 70s gas crisis.

Unfortunately, the engine was dropped in size as well. A 230-ci V6 rated at 104 horsepower came standard, with a 305-ci V8 as an option. While these engines might have represented a drop in power then, today this makes for an even more fun car to tune.

However, some have pointed out drawbacks such as handling issues and winter performance, noting that the rear can be too light for certain conditions."

It is so easy to just cruise or swap a few parts and hit the track. Always turns heads and get thumbs up everywhere I go. Hope to pass it on to my daughter someday. Bug only when I out grow the fun lol.
