66 Mostly Original — I love this car because it has been kept mostly original . It has not been in the hands of antique dealers who detailed the car out making it unaffordable to the general public. It has never broken down on me and cranks right up and goes. These little cars where really made with pride.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: kept mostly original

Cons: power from the 1300 cc engine

53 Miles To The Gallon! Need I Say More? Ha Ha Ha, Never Needs Antifreeze. — I bought this car with 64000 miles on it. I am the 2nd owner and I have had 10 Bugs and 2 Buses. This Bug is by far the best car I have ever owned. Cancer free good solid pan, no whining in 4th gear. All rubber and seals are tight. Soon I will repaint and a fresh 1835cc will be done for my son David Jr.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: It's the original smart car!

Cons: Cold in the winter!

Fun To Rebuild And Fun To Run — The roller coaster ride of classic car ownership is one that everyone should take. Take this disposable item from the 1960s that has some how stood the test of time. I have spent stupid amounts of money on this thing over the last 18 months and it has yet to transport me more than 2 metres under it's own steam, yet I am keen to spend more on it to make it the car I want. Yes, there are cars with air con, cruise control and a 0 - 100km time under 30 seconds that I could have bought for less, but I don't care. It is the vehicle I always wanted.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Style, rarity on the roads, ease of maintenance

Cons: Speed, handling in corners

Great For My First Car — I bought this car practically new and actually drov it into the ground. The engine ceased on the way down east. I drove it for about 3 years and it was very cheap to drive, and it was all that I could afford at the time.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: It was cheap to drive

Cons: no power

It Is Original And In Great Running Condition For A 40 + Year Old Car. — Performance - Quick but not fast, top speed of about 80, 0-60 in 12 secs, great drum brakes, handles weel, but needs new front suspension bushings. Has a few squeaks because it is old, has a sun roof, but its filled in with the headliner, it painted egg white, Porsche wheels, and red leather interior with original seat belts. Gets 30 mpg, just check the oil once a wee, and drive it all day long. It is a great in town driver that fun, but wouldnt take it cross country

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: cheap and fun

Cons: small and no saftey

Vw — This is my baby, which is in desperate need of restoration. It runs great, is sound mechanically, but needs a paint job and new floor pans. Its really fun to drive, and gets alot of attention, and someday hope to restore it to its original condition.

Pros: Fun to drive

Cons: Needs to be restored badly

It's Hitler's Golf Cart. — A perfect example of how modifyable the bug is. The added weight from the 1/8" steel body and roll cage turns the already lackluster performance into something even slower. Although it was fun to drive, it spent 1/4 of the time in a shop, making it a bad daily driver.

Pros: Looks

Cons: performance, reliability

Old Beetles Great For Restoration Project. — Sweet Old car. Definately needs to be fixed up. Uncle gave it to me for free. Already $500 into it. Orig in/exterior and falling apart. Doesn't keep a charge though. Its fun to drive but I have to keep going in case it quits. Not the original engine, it came from a VW bus. not quite sure of the year. Good project for people with money.

Pros: Gets up and goes!

Cons: .... when it gets started. Crappy interior/exterior. no heater/ac.

Inherited From My Father - My First Car — Car I learned to drive in Broke down on a trip to Florida - threw a rod in Florence South Carolina. Two good ol' boys who owned B&B Bug in Darlington SC took me for a few hundred bucks and I broke down again in Ridgeland SC. Eventually sold it for under $100 (the tires on it were worth more than that). One day I will hunt down the guys who ripped me off. Took a Greyhound bus all the way to Ft. Lauderdale (24 hours sitting between a stinky ex-sailor from Norfolk VA and a rather large sweaty lady)

Pros: First car, great mileage, easy to work on, fun to drive

Cons: didn't have it long enough
