New Timing Belt ticking with acceleration

I took my 04 Golf to the dealership at 105,000 miles for a
standard timing belt / water pump change. The car was
running fine, it was just time. It hasn’t been 2000 miles
and the timing belt area has gone from a little ticking
cricket sound when starting the car (last month) to a
ticking while accelerating yesterday. It was silent when I
started the car last night. I took it back to them today, and
they said it’s $150 to just look at the car, “then we’ll go
from there”.  Does this ticking problem sound familiar /
common? :(

sounds to me like the engine had the timing belt in correctly installed the ticking noise would likely be the velves and if they are geting noisyier then something is going on tht shouldn't be or the engine has less oil in it than it needs. I would take it back to the dealership and have them take everything off and redo it if it gets any worse. check your oil levels and make sure they put new oil in it. also check to make sure the lifters are getting oil by looking down in the oil cap hole after a warm up of the engine. I have seen some preaty bad VW mechanics at the dealerships so its not uncomman to me. I actualy recently got rid of my audi due to the lack of car the audi and VW dealers have for my car. I have had 2 cars a jetta and a audi a4 in the last couple years that have died due to their lack of mechanical knowledge or lack of care about their job. If you want to do yourself a huge favor find a VW/Audi specialist in your area that is not dealer related and shows a good and solid interest and reliablity in thier field. Performance shops such as euro charged (shop near me) is an awsome place I love to go in my city cause they genuanily love cars and know whats ailes them.
