Complete Electrical Failure while driving, then resumed without reignition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Complete loss of electrical power, as if a reboot happened; dash lights went off while driving as if the car had just come back on.  Then, the check engine light was on.

2 days prior i was rear ended basically with no external damage, a loose bumper and scuffed trailer hitch.  I did not drive it until the less than 2 mile drive down the road i lost electrical power while going down a flat road.

Sounds like ground connections were damaged...have your mechanic inspect the chassis ground connection from the car battery...take a gander at the battery itself to see if the connections are sound and not corroded~ and the GROUND 1/0 cable has enough area of contact to pull the requisite 300-500 amps~...but the chassis ground is the key...without it computers act weird "brown out" conditions occur and CEL comes on~....Maintain Ground Connections....will fix YA~

Tighten and clean all battery connections. Also tighten and clean negative connections on frame and motor.

Its a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade 2.7l A/T the battery didn't seem shifted or moved; but i'll take that under advisement. I don't think my luck is that high, but i'm hopeful.

That is a good possiblity, i will pass that on and see if the problem is that. My sister had said something about that as well, that it might be an ignition problem. If its just a relay that would be a blessing as well. I do not look forward to car expenses; especially when i have so much traveling planned that i cannot afford the delays.
