Reliable, parts are inexpensive, truck is easy to maintain. Tune-ups; spark plugs, plug wires are easily changed, shocks are easy to change. New radiator, hoses and clamps - cooling system is serviced for years to come. New front and rear brakes, even rebuilt the alternator to save cost over the replacement. Feb 07, 2015

The car runs very smooth, not noises at all, inside is very comfortable with a lot of space, and the seats are very wide ,for the driver the vision is panoramic. The car is very stable specially on the high way, and very economic in gas. The trunk is bigDec 16, 2013

I have been a very pleased owner of the XLT 4.0L V6 SuperCab 4x4 Ranger. I do not have experience with other versions of this truck which are many. I purchased the vehicle new from the dealer and have owned it for 93,000 miles, mostly garaged. I took the vehicle off road about one every 2 weeks, but did not heavily load it frequently. I purchased the Ford Workshop Manual to perform nearly all of the vehicle maintenance myself with decent mechanical tallent, but very little experience or any formal mechanical training. I performed nearly all the vehicle maintenance myself and ended up with very reasonable costs of ownership as a result. Parts are readily available for this vehicle both new and used. I previously owned a foriegn vehicle and never will again due to the difficulty and extra expense of obtaining service and parts. The vehicle did experience a leak between the transmission and the transfer case (4x4 drive) which I had repaired by the dealer at a cost for about 1300 dollars. One of the fron wheel bearings went bad at about 70,000 miles which I believe is consitent if not overdue for these vehicles. I replaced both front wheel bearings with Timken bearings and would recomend any owner due the same. Overall I would make the same purchase decision again to buy this vehicle over the competition that was made at the same time in the same price range.Feb 27, 2013

3.0 auto 3.73; nice acceleration, solid braking excellent load carrying ability. Really
dependable having almost zero maintenance cost; limited to oil changes, new
battery, and now new spark plugs.
New tires went on last year, need a new bed cover but that can wait Dec 24, 2011

This is my 3rd Ranger. My first one I drove for 100,00 miles. My second Ranger was a 1990 that I drove 225,000 miles. Is there any wonder that I bought another one in 2003? I'm 68 years old with bad health. This will be the last truck I will ever need.Apr 18, 2011

i love my truck! i have very few cars i would like to drive besides my truck but i will never give it up for any of them. i love the hieght that it is at and how it drives. it handles great on the road whether it is flat or not, obviously it doesn't drive like a sports car but it does have some power under that hood. i have had very few major problems with the mechanics mainly things that wear out normaly like shocks and bearings. maintenance has been normal nothing more than you would have with most cars, the gas milage is not that great but it is a truck so that is expected. i love driving my truck but i love the way that trucks and big vehicles drive, if you want speed this truck isn't for you. It's a built Ford Tough Ranger and its unsurpassed fuel economy and reliability has been remarkable. It gets about 30 mpg highway and 25 city and has been a vehicle that has impressed me numerous times! Theres nothing that can beat the quality of a Ranger pickup!Feb 25, 2010

I wish there would have been a V-8 option, a 4.6L would have
been plenty. Or a 4cylinder turbo diesel. I would have also like
to see Rear Disc Brakes on these trucks. The Explorers had
both a V8 and rear disc brakes, why not the Rangers? My
Ranger has been very trouble free.Feb 18, 2010

THis truck holds up to anything. It hasn't failed me yet and I work this truck hard. It may be a little slow with a 4 cylinder engine, but I don't need it to do more than the speed limit.Sep 16, 2009

Eh it's an okay car for the price. It cost me 7k and being a Ford I was hesitant because of maintenance problems associated with that dealer. But so far it's been a reliable truck and is fun to drive because of it's manual.Jul 07, 2009

This is a very comfortable and reliable vehicle. My one was quite heavy on diesel though, while the performance was fairly mediocre. Servicing and maintenance was reasonable. The biggest like for me was the respect one got on the road. It wasn't really large or fast, but people moved over readily on the freeway. My biggest gripe was with the diff and the useless gearbox. Ford has never been able to build a gearbox worth noting for it's reliability.Jun 29, 2009

Good truck. Like most of it. Good mileage for it's size and
usage. Wish it had a lil more room in the ext. cab and more
power. Tough shocks. Decent to drive, not too exciting,
but not boring either. Rides high for a small truck, which I
like.May 28, 2009

I love my truck!! It's fun to drive, tons of power for the 4.0 V6, owned it for a year now, never done anything on it except for swapping the air filters. Gas consumption isn't even too bad!! :D. Over all a great truck, definitely my favorite vehicle I've ever owned! Sep 12, 2008

Very solid truck. I have abused it time and time again offroading with minimal breaking. CV axles could be stronger and a more powerful engine. It has a tough appearance for its size especially when its lifted. Very fun to drive. Overall, its very reliable and fun to drive on and off road.Aug 15, 2008

gas mileage is great considering i have the I-4 with a 5 speed manual transmission, but it aint big enough for a family. the overall size is great for maneuverability. it does look pretty good although i did add a few upgrades. if your a DIYer the spark plugs are a pain, but the oil is real easy to change.Jul 21, 2008

I like this more than the S10. Still a lot of plastic (can't get away from that, so I'll shut up from now on), quite reliable, good money.Feb 03, 2008
