The 2004 Chevrolet Colorado hit the market with a bit of a splash. Replacing the S10 pickup, the '04 Colorado offered a more rugged exterior and a slightly increased hauling capacity.
The challenge, though, was finding the exact market niche for the '04 Chevy Colorado (and its sister truck, the GMC Canyon). Was it a compact pickup? Or a midsize truck? Its size was a little more in-between than some of its competitors, like the Toyota Tacoma or the Ford Ranger. On the other hand, its fuel efficiency compared favorably to the compacts on the market.

This vehicle has holes in the frame that cannot be repaired. It failed the Maryland Inspection. Only solution is to replace the entire frame. Buyer beware!Oct 01, 2021

Very reliable and it has plenty of power to get out of the way! It's a simple designed truck with very low maintenance! The handling and the manual transmission makes it fun to drive! Iv'e never got stuck in the snow with the snow tires and some weight.Dec 17, 2014

I really love this truck. It has been a very reliable truck for me over the past six years. It gets really great gas mileage and rides great as well. Has plenty of power for a 4 cyl engine, had no problems pulling my 16 foot bass boat and trailer. Overall a wonderful truck. Dec 10, 2014

This truck has a lot more get up and go for what you would expect out of
a small-engined truck. It is a Chevy, so, of course, it is cheap to own and

sharp lookin anyone can drive this and look good in it its not overkill there easy to
work on has some real good power while still getting about 22 mpg this handles well

I will give this truck 4 stars for being reliable enough to not have major work done on it in the last 7 years I've owned it, with 125K miles on it. But the fan blower only works on setting #4, it stalls out when turning sharp turns sometimes in the cold, and lacks acceleration during first 30 seconds of travel. But an induction service next week should clear all of that up. Apart from that, the engine has worked well, no transmission problems, and has reliably gotten me to work for several years.Feb 09, 2011

the only thing that I would change about my truck is that it is automatic, but as far as performance I love it. The belt will squeak occasionally when it rains, but once it dries off it goes away. I love both the interior and exterior construction and design. Gas mileage is decent, but it is still a truck. May 14, 2010

performance is decent with decent mpg about 18/20.
haven't had any problems with it at all! has 51000 miles on it. The little 5 cylinder puts out enough power to pull my little 14' fishing boat. Nice little truck.

Well, I like the power and sound of the 5 cylinder, and it runs great. However the handling is a bit choppy. The interior build quality is crap, the plastics feel too breakable. The appearance is sporty and fun. This truck is funn to drive!Jan 07, 2010

I had an 04 Colorado Base 2WD 5 Speed. The truck was a 2.8L 4 cyl and had ok power. My Colorado got decent mileage with the 4 cylinder.. about 26-27 on the highway... I had the truck for a short period because it was horrible in winter. Thats what I get for buying a two wheel drive in wisconsin...Nov 09, 2009

overall good truck but not for towing campers or anything big already had to replacethe engine. This truck is good when goin up into thoes hard to reach places in the woods...so great for hnting and fishing...if u want a towing truck do not buy this, if u want a good overall truck buy itJul 14, 2009

My wifes truck. The higher stance and fender flares from the Z71 package are fantastic. The I-5 3.5L engine puts out more power than I expected it to and is very responsive. Unfortuantely we are only getting around 18 MPG in it currently, but I plan on doing an extensive tune-up on it to see if we can't gain a few more MPG. It is built solid and the ride is wonderful. This truck thus far has been very fun to drive around and is very easy to get our three children in and out of.Jul 14, 2009

Like the look interior and exterior. Like the interior space (quite roomy compared to the Toyota, Nissan, Dodge, and Ford. Wish it was a little bit wider. Wish it had a long bed. Good engine power. The lift kit and the tires make the truck into a TRUCK.
It's just the inline 5 that lacks any power. There's just
no real low end torque and little power throughout the
power band. The truck is alright, but I was expecting a

I love my truck, although better gas millage and longer light bulb life would be nice. Also the brakes are really loud when wet.
When I first bought the truck, I had two tires go flat, one with bad wearing the other went bad a few months later. Both were replaced with no hassle.Jan 17, 2009

Well, I have had to replace 3 bulbs in the past 6
months. Last year when it got to 12 below 0, it was in
"limp" mode and it cost over $900 to fix. I also had to
get the brakes done. Other than that, it is pretty
freaking sweet. 4-door, inline-5, orange with black
trim, and fast as hell!
I have had to bring it in 4 times because the blower would stop
working. Each time I had to pay $100 for my insurance deductible. I
had to being it in last month, no more warranty, and the jerk-off at
Suburban Chevrolet tells me that I have to pay $725 to replace the
resistor, blower motor, and the wiring harness. The problem had
nothing to do with what he said. Chevrolet paints the inside of the
fenders. There is a grounding block that is attached to the passenger
side fender, but because of the paint, it was not grounding properly. I
unbolted it, sanded it down to the bare metal, put on a washer, and the
blower now works. A hell of a lot cheaper than $725!
Chevrolet doesn't seem to give a rat's a** about it's blunder to make a

Performance is pretty good for just a 5CYL mid size truc..build quality is right on par with every other truck out there that you intend to beat on and have fun with..Look is amazing especially withn combined with individual ideas..It didnt even cost me that much where i would burn a whole in my pocked having fun with it either...Absolutely love itAug 07, 2008

Get about 20 miles a gallon and about 24 on the highway. It's a little under powered but I beat a Ford sporttrac with the 4 liter motor with it and I wasn't even in it all the way. I haven't had that many problems with it I've had the transmission rebuilt but that's it basically other than maintenance, It drives and handles like a car.Jul 30, 2008

that truck! I have, however, had to rebuild the tranny once (stripped the splines on the sun shell) and had the

HaVE A 2004 Colorado 5 cyl 4x4 4 dr. and I have replaced spark plugs ,brakes ,rotars ,cleaned Intake ,and changed a hose that was rotted under valve cover and put new air filter ,The idle is just under 1 when sitting there idling until i drive it then start to apply brakes to stop or slow down it stalls out on me .Any ideas ?????????? deperate to find problem so i have a vehicle to drive

2004 chevy Colorado 3.5 battery light on and off
My battery light turns on and off. Switched the battery for a new one. Battery light still turns on and off while driving. I took off the alternator to get it checked at auto zone. He tested it twice with both test results good. Then I changed the belt and the tensioner along with the mega fuse 100A. I turn on the truck and after a couple of min of it running the battery light turns on. Both battery terminals on clean and tight on the battery. Im lost at this point.
