2024 Land Rover Defender Reviews Summary

The Land Rover Defender has a rich history, tracing back to its roots as a go-anywhere vehicle designed for the most demanding conditions. The original Defender was revered for its rustic charm and capability, but when it was redesigned and reintroduced to the United States for the 2020 model year, it was a far more sophisticated vehicle.

The 2024 Defender is perfectly poised to capitalize on the surging popularity of Overlanding, offering both the capability and the aesthetic appeal that enthusiasts crave. Whether you’re embarking on a long-distance expedition or simply outfitting your vehicle to look the part, the Defender delivers with style and substance.

Verdict: For the 2024 model year, the Defender introduces a host of new trims and features, enhancing its already impressive lineup. Notably, the availability of one of its powerful V8 engine options has been expanded, providing drivers with even more choices when it comes to performance and capability. These updates ensure that the Defender remains at the forefront of the SUV market, offering unparalleled versatility and driving enjoyment.

2025 Acura MDX Reviews Summary

People want stylish, reliable, and safe vehicles equipped with simple controls, intuitive technology, and enjoyable driving dynamics. Of course, value is a part of that equation, particularly when it comes to fuel economy. We’re happy to report the refreshed 2025 Acura MDX meets nearly all of those requirements. Furthermore, Acura has apparently gotten the user-experience and user-interface message loud and clear, as the changes to the 2025 MDX reflect a shift to simplicity, sophistication, and refinement.

Verdict: This year’s updates make the 2025 Acura MDX more appealing than ever. However, this is not a fuel-efficient choice and the standard V6 engine is somewhat underwhelming. Acura needs to install a hybrid or plug-in hybrid in the MDX as soon as possible if it wants to woo customers shopping in this segment.

Look and feel

2024 Land Rover Defender

8/10

2025 Acura MDX

8/10

The 2024 Land Rover Defender presented a unique blend of classic and modern design elements. Its boxy profile was reminiscent of older models, yet it featured angular headlights that tied it to the contemporary Land Rover lineup. Inside, the Defender felt rugged and adventure-ready, with a durable cabin that shared more similarities with a Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco than with other Land Rovers. Despite its robust nature, the interior was enhanced with soft-touch materials, offering a balance of comfort and utility.

The Defender was available in three body styles: the two-door 90, the four-door 110, and the extended-wheelbase four-door 130, each with various trims like S, X-Dynamic SE, X, Carpathian Edition, and Outbound. The Defender 110 S, the most popular configuration, came with the County visual package, featuring white wheels and vintage graphics. Standard features included 19-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable and heated front seats, partial leather upholstery, and a panoramic glass roof. The X-Dynamic SE and X trims offered additional styling touches and features, while the Carpathian Edition and Outbound trim catered to those seeking a more aggressive or spacious option.

The 2025 Acura MDX underwent subtle exterior updates, including a new grille, revised front bumper, and darkened headlights and taillights, which enhanced its sporty appearance. The interior saw more significant changes with the introduction of a new touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previous touchpad interface and adding more storage. The MDX Advance and A-Spec Advance trims received seats from the previous Type S model, while the Type S got a new seat design. Acura also improved cabin quietness with added sound insulation and acoustic laminated window glass.

The MDX lineup introduced a new A-Spec Advance trim, blending luxury with a sportier look. Our test vehicle, equipped with this trim and Apex Blue Pearl paint, had an MSRP of $69,950, including a $1,350 destination charge. The base MDX started at $50,900, with various trims like Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and A-Spec Advance available. The MDX Type S Advance topped the lineup, offering maximum performance for $74,950 plus the destination charge.
