2024 Chevrolet Traverse Reviews Summary

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has gone from being something of a wallflower to becoming one of the more stand-out choices among midsize SUVs with three rows of seating. That’s because Chevrolet’s design and engineering team did its homework when it came time to update this third generation of the Traverse, a model that has featured in the brand’s lineup since its introduction back for the 2009 model year.

The 2024 Chevy Traverse is taller, wider, and longer than the outgoing variant. It’s also much more memorable to look at; following current SUV trends, Chevrolet gave the Traverse a more rugged appearance that borrows from both the full-size Tahoe SUV and Sierra pickup truck. Styling is always subjective, but in this instance, we think it’s fair to say Chevy got things right.

Verdict: More important than any additional visual bravado is that the 2024 Traverse has been improved in countless other ways. It has more standard driver aids, such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. There is more space for passengers, particularly those seated in the third row. And the infotainment system gets a much larger touchscreen.

2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE Reviews Summary

Summary: G-Wagens aside, the now-discontinued M-Class is what cemented Mercedes’ place in the SUV jungle. The descendent of that pioneering model is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, which continues as the automaker’s entry into a midsize luxury SUV segment populated by the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Genesis GV80, and Lexus RX. Mercedes also sells a GLE Coupe that competes with the BMW X6. Changes for 2025 are limited to two new configurations—a GLE 350 SUV base model and GLE 450 4Matic Coupe—and several new paint colors.

Verdict: The GLE-Class is a solid luxury SUV for families, but its competition is equally good.

2024 Chevrolet Traverse

8/10

2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE

7/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse was offered in four trims: LS, LT, Z71, and RS, with the Z71 being a new addition aimed at those interested in moderate off-roading. During test drives near Atlanta, it was clear that the Z71 was not designed for extreme off-road adventures like the Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco but could handle reasonably rugged terrain. The Traverse's pricing was competitive, starting at $38,995 for the LS and reaching $55,595 for the RS, which came loaded with features. The Z71 model, priced at $47,795, featured 18-inch alloy wheels and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint, with a Jet Black interior accented by "Torch Red" highlights.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE, redesigned in 2020 and facelifted for 2024, maintained a unique profile with a rounded design reminiscent of its predecessors. The GLE's styling, especially in Coupe models, featured a bulky lower body and a fastback-style roofline, staying true to Mercedes' brand identity. New paint colors and Manufaktur interior options were introduced, offering more personalization. The Yacht Blue interior of the test car was complemented by upscale features like chunky air vents, mesh speaker grilles, and 64-color ambient lighting, creating a luxurious atmosphere.

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse replaced its previous 310-horsepower V6 with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. This new engine offered more power and torque than its predecessor. The Z71 trim featured an advanced AWD system with a dual-clutch arrangement for better grip. The Traverse provided satisfactory acceleration and handling, with a pleasant exhaust note. Its steering was adequate for its size, and the ride quality was commendable, even with all-terrain tires. The brakes were progressive, and the stop-and-start feature was seamless. Fuel economy estimates ranged from 18 mpg city to 26 highway.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE offered six powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid and AMG variants. The GLE 350 featured a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 255 horsepower, while the GLE 450 4Matic had a 3.0-liter inline-six producing 375 hp. The GLE 580 4Matic boasted a twin-turbo V8 with 510 hp. AMG models like the GLE 63 S delivered 603 hp, achieving 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Despite its power, the GLE felt larger than it was, with AMG enhancements unable to make it nimble. The GLE's refinement was impressive, but maneuvering in tight spaces was challenging.

Form and function

2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse offered seating for eight in the LS trim, with captain’s chairs standard in the Z71 and RS, making them seven-seaters. The third row was accessible and suitable for average-sized adults. Chevy’s Smart Slide seats and power-folding third row enhanced convenience. Cargo space was competitive, with 22.9 cubic feet behind the third row and 96 cubic feet with seats folded. Storage options included a hidden area under the center console and an underfloor bin in the cargo bay. Visibility was generally good, though the third row felt a bit enclosed.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE came in two-row and three-row configurations, though third-row specs were not published. The GLE offered competitive headroom and slightly more second-row legroom than rivals. Cargo space was 33.3 cubic feet behind the second row, expanding to 74.9 cubic feet with seats folded. The center console provided ample storage, and the GLE had a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. Despite its size, the GLE's interior was well-designed for comfort and utility.

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse featured a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11-inch digital instrument display. The system ran on Google-based software with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wireless charging pad and physical controls for volume and HVAC were appreciated, though some controls were less intuitive. Super Cruise, a hands-free driving aid, was available, expanding its functionality to more roads.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE had dual 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment, with MBUX offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Multiple access methods, including voice recognition, were available. AMG models had additional drive modes and settings accessible via steering wheel dials. Off-road displays and a “transparent hood” function enhanced the driving experience, especially on rough terrain.

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse had not been crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of review. However, it included a comprehensive suite of driver aids like automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot warning, and more, providing peace of mind.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE offered numerous driver-assist features, though some were optional. Standard features included forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and the Pre-Safe system. The optional Driver Assistance Package added adaptive cruise control and more. The GLE earned a 2025 Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS, though its front-crash prevention ratings varied.
