What’s New for the 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
For 2026, the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid gets an expanded lineup, with new front-wheel-drive (FWD) models that lower the cost of entry and make the brand’s best-selling vehicle accessible to more shoppers. There’s also a new Night trim at the top of the lineup, building on the Tucson Hybrid’s most upscale configuration with trendy blackout styling.
Design
The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is a compact crossover SUV with two rows of seats. Exterior styling is on the simple side, if a bit busy at the front due to Hyundai’s cheese grater grille that picks up the slice-like look of the standard alloy wheels. For 2026, the Tucson Hybrid is available in a new Night version, which is essentially a styling package for the loaded Limited trim. It’s also available with Ash Black, Creamy White Pearl, or Ecotronic Gray exterior colors and adds gloss black front and rear fascias, window trims, mirror caps, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
Not only is the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid more efficient than the gas-only Tucson, it’s also more powerful. It features a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a single electric motor, rated for 231 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, whereas the base Tucson gets a 187-hp engine. A smooth six-speed automatic provides more engaging driving dynamics than the continuously variable automatic transmissions (CVT) used by most hybrid competitors. FWD is newly standard for 2026, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. With AWD, the Tucson Hybrid Blue SE is rated up to 38 mpg, and the other trims are rated up to 36 mpg combined. The EPA has not yet published fuel economy ratings for the Tucson Hybrid’s new FWD trims.

Interior
The Tucson Hybrid seats five across its two rows, though it’s a better fit for four if there are adults in the back. The cabin is well insulated against outside noise and there are plenty of storage spaces. This Hyundai comes standard with cloth upholstery and manually adjustable front seats. Options include power-adjustable front seats, synthetic leather or genuine leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Cargo capacity is among the best in the class, with 38.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 74.5 cubic feet with the second row folded down.
Technology
Hyundai fits the Tucson Hybrid with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and top trims get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There’s also a climate control panel with physical and haptic controls. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker stereo. Options include ambient cabin lighting, wireless device charging, a Bose audio system with eight speakers, and a smart key.
