The 2026 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is part of the eighth-generation Sonata, which was last fully redesigned in 2020. It sits in the midsize sedan segment and has two primary competitors: the Toyota Camry (which is hybrid only) and the Honda Accord Hybrid. The 2026 Hyundai Sonata has three trims: Blue, SEL, and Limited.

What’s New for the 2026 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
The entire Sonata lineup was refreshed for the 2024 model year, which included a new front end, revised rear styling, a heavily updated interior, upgraded tech, and a new column shifter in some trims. The 2026 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is essentially a carryover model, but the one big change of note is the new base Blue trim for the 2026 model year.
Design
After a staid seventh generation, Hyundai added some visual interest to the Sonata lineup with the 2020 redesign, then changed it up in 2024 with unique lighting and sharper lines on the vehicle's nose. The Blue trim comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, while the SEL and the Limited have 17-inch wheels. There are no appearance packages on the 2026 Sonata Hybrid, but there are two $500 premium paint colors: Ultimate Red and Serenity White.
Powertrain
Equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four engine and an electric motor, the 2026 Sonata Hybrid has a total system output of 192 horsepower. This powertrain is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and, unlike the regular Sonata, the hybrid is front-wheel drive only. The base Blue trim is the most fuel-efficient option with 47 mpg in the city and 56 mpg on the highway, but the SEL and Limited trims are not to be sniffed at with 44 mpg and 51 mpg, respectively.

Interior
The Sonata Hybrid got a serious upgrade with the 2024 refresh, courtesy of a larger infotainment screen, but it also reintroduced some physical buttons for HVAC and audio. The overall effect is modern but functional. Both the Blue and SEL trim levels get standard premium cloth seats, while the Limited has leather seats. Rear air vents are standard on all hybrid models, and a panoramic sunroof becomes standard from the SEL trim. Among five-passenger midsize sedans, the Sonata offers less rear legroom than its key rivals, though its 15.6-cubic-foot trunk remains competitive.
Technology
The base Blue and SEL trims are equipped with the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, but do not get the Limited's large curved screen, which houses both a digital cluster and the infotainment system. Instead, they get the 4.2-inch display between analog gauges. Standard tech on every Sonata Hybrid model includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, two rear USB ports, a hands-free smart trunk, HD Radio, SiriusXM Satellite radio, and Bluelink+. Available tech includes ambient lighting, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a smart key, dual automatic climate controls, Hyundai Pay, wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. The Sonata Hybrid Limited is also the only Sonata that gets Hyundai’s remote smart park system.
