What’s New for the 2023 BMW X3
The X3 received some mild styling updates for the 2022 model year. For 2023, the changes are minimal, save for the departure of Gesture Control as an option.
Design
The 2023 X3 features a classy, upright design that lends itself to functionality and improved driver visibility. The xLine is the base setup and features 19-inch wheels and chrome exterior trim. The M Sport package features revised exterior bodywork and dark exterior trim.
Powertrain
The base model in the 2023 X3 lineup is the sDrive30i. It features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine routing 248 horsepower to the rear wheels. The xDrive30i features the same engine and adds all-wheel drive (AWD). If you’re looking for something a bit more powerful, the X3 M40i features a 382-horsepower twin-turbo inline-six, and the X3 M’s twin-turbo inline-six makes a robust 473 horsepower. Both engines route power to xDrive AWD. All versions of the X3 come equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The M40i model features a sport suspension and sport brakes, while the X3 M boasts an adaptive M suspension and a sport differential.
Interior
The X3 provides plenty of cabin space, with adult-friendly headroom and legroom in both rows. With the rear seats folded, the X3 provides up to 62.7 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats in use, it provides 28.7 cubic feet of rear cargo space. A power liftgate comes as standard equipment.
Further standard equipment on the BMW X3 includes synthetic leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, multiple USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Available features include a panoramic moonroof and remote keyless entry, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, remote start, and a hands-free power liftgate.
Technology
BMW equips the 2023 X3 with the easy-to-use iDrive infotainment system. The base setup is a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and the upgraded setup is a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Both come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Buyers can select features such as wireless device charging and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo.
Safety
The X3 comes equipped with a number of advanced driver-assistance features. This list includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, and front and rear parking sensors. Available safety tech includes a 360-degree parking camera system, a head-up display, and parking assist.

At the time of this writing, the 2023 BMW X3 has a base MSRP of $46,200 for the sDrive30i. The all-wheel-drive xDrive30i has a starting price of $48,200. The X3 M40i starts at $61,000, and the X3 M starts at $74,400. The BMW X3 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.
