Each version of the Traverse includes a 3.6-liter V6, which makes 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the front wheels. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available as an option. When properly equipped, the Traverse tows up to 5,000 pounds. With its standard second-row bench seat, this 3-row crossover seats eight people. With the third row in use, the Traverse provides 23 cubic feet of cargo volume. Fold the third-row seat, and 58.1 cubic feet of space becomes available. With the second and third rows folded, cargo volume reaches 98.2 cubic feet. Fuel-economy returns are as high as 18 mpg city, 27 highway, and 21 combined.
Standard equipment includes 3-zone automatic climate control, keyless open, and heated front seats. Standard tech includes a 7-inch HD touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and OnStar subscription services. Options include an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Bose premium sound system, and a surround-view camera.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Traverse a 5-star overall rating. Standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera, Teen Driver parental-monitoring technology, and a rear-seat reminder designed to prevent the driver from accidentally leaving a child or pet in the back seat. Additional safety options include forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
