For those who want a high-end full-size sedan at a reasonable price, Hyundai offers its classy Azera with a freshened look and some extra goodies for 2015. As is traditional, this 5-passenger family/commuter car totes many of the bells and whistles offered in the Korean automaker’s Genesis lineup, but it won’t match the top-shelf Equus. Then again, the Azera’s family- and commuter-friendly MSRP is a lot easier to manage.
This fulsome 4-door again comes in 2 trims, the Azera Base and the up-featured Limited, and for 2015 sports a few subtle styling tweaks to the grille and the front fascia. Additionally, the standard blind-spot monitor now includes lane-keeping assistance and a rear cross-traffic alert for this new model year, while the standard 8-inch display gets a new tilting screen. The delivered Blue Link telematics also get upgraded for 2015, while the trunk gets a new hands-free opening function. Further changes for 2015 include standard illuminating door sills and, for the Limited, new LED fog lights.
Returning standard bells and whistles in the 2015 Azera Base iteration include, besides the newly refreshed styling ticks, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable outside mirrors, leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, full power accessories, cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering. Further comfort and convenience goodies in this entry-level trim include a rear-view camera, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Bluetooth-interfaced Blue Link infotainment with 8-inch LCD touchscreen, dual-zone auto climate control and a new-for-2015 upgraded gauge cluster.
Entertainment-wise, look for a standard 550-watt Surround Sound audio system boasting a CD player, 14 speakers, HD Radio, satellite radio, and an auxiliary audio input (USB connections).
The Azera Limited, meanwhile, adds a power sunroof, ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and power rear sunshades, while options for both trims include rear parking sensors and carpeted floor mats.
Power in the 2015 Azera remains a capable 3.3-liter V6 engine that once again mates with the standard 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission for 293 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. Mileage for the Base trim returns at an estimated 20 mpg city/29 highway, while the Limited, with its traditional load of extra posh, again weighs in at 19/28.
Finally, standard safety equipment aboard each 2015 Azera variant includes, besides the abovementioned safety upgrades, 4-wheel antilock brakes, front and rear side-mounted airbags, front and rear head curtain airbags, daytime running lights, Blue Link emergency telematics, turn-signal-integrated mirrors, and a remote antitheft alarm. Oh, and the Limited again sports standard high-intensity-discharge (HID) headlights in addition to those new LED fog lights.
