Unveiled in August, the 2013 Nissan Sentra, the seventh generation of the Japanese automaker’s small sedan, was long overdue for an overhaul. Fighting what appeared to be a long battle against models such as the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra and Mazda3, Nissan made numerous changes to the Sentra. Many of those changes result in the Sentra looking like a smaller version of Nissan’s top-selling sedans, the Altima and Maxima, especially with new upscale styling cues added inside and out.
Six trims are available to 2013 Nissan Sentra buyers: S, FE+ S, SV, FE+ SV, SR and SL. All Sentra trims make their way to dealer showroom floors with a 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder direct-injected MRA8DE engine—a change from the 2.0-liter MR20DE and 2.5-liter QR25DE inline-4 engines found in last year’s Sentra—that makes 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. The S trim is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the other trims are paired with an Xtronic continually variable transmission (CVT), which is an available option for the S trim. All trims are front-wheel drive, powered by regular gasoline and estimated by the EPA to get 30 mpg city. The S, SV, SR, and SL trims are rated at 30 mpg highway, while the FE+ S and FE+ SV trims are estimated to achieve 40 mpg highway.
Starting with the S trim, all 2013 Nissan Sentras come factory equipped with air conditioning, power locks, power windows, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cloth seating surfaces, 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way manual adjustable front passenger’s seat, 4-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3/WMA playback capability, dual power outside mirrors, halogen headlights with LED accent lights, LED taillights and 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers and all-season tires.
The FE+ S trim for the 2013 Nissan Sentra comes with everything found on the S trim, but adds a rear spoiler, aero deflectors and low-rolling resistance tires. The SV adds cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, a premium cloth interior, and a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system to the standard equipment found on the S trim, and the FE+ SV adds everything found on the S and SV trims, plus dual power exterior mirrors, a rear spoiler, aero deflectors and low-rolling-resistance tires.
The 2013 Nissan Sentra SR trim level has all the equipment found on the S and SV trims and adds a sport grille, front and rear fascias, premium sport cloth seating surfaces, dual power exterior mirrors, fog lights, a rear spoiler and 17-inch forked 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with all-season tires. The SL has everything found on the S and SV trims, then adds dual-zone automatic temperature control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, dual power heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, smart auto headlights, fog lights, a Nissan Intelligent Key, and 17-inch split 7-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with all-season tires. Options that are part of packages available on some trims include a power slide-and-tilt moonroof, an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system, a navigation system with 5.8-inch color touchscreen and voice recognition, rear-view camera, leather seating surfaces and heated seats.
Safety features found on all 2013 Nissan Sentra trims include the Nissan advanced airbag system with dual-stage supplemental front airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags for front and second-row seats, a 4-wheel antilock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, vehicle dynamic control with traction control and a tire pressure monitoring system. A vehicle immobilizer is available on all trims, while a vehicle security system is standard on all trims except the S and FE+ S trims.
With a complete redesign, thee 2013 Nissan Sentra is trying to carve a new path in the accordable small sedan market. Competition is stiff, with nearly every major automaker offering at least one competitor to the Sentra, sometimes even two. However, with the redesign and the improved fuel mileage achieved from the new 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, Nissan should find itself with another winner. The 2013 Sentra should be available at Nissan dealerships in the late fall or early winter.

My 2013 Nissan Sentra was purchased in 2015 and it currently has less than 30,000 miles. the transmission is shot and I am beyond upset because I really like Nissan cars. of course the warranty has ended and I truly dont understand why it has not been a recall done. May 29, 2024

I own a 2013 Sentra and as of 10/24/2022 I have only 13,000 miles on it when I heard of faulty CVT I took it to Nissan and they said there is nothing they can do. I think they need to replace transmission with something that will last more then 80,000 miles. I am sitting at the end of my seat waiting for something to happen. Do not buy this car. Lots of people including me having transmission issues. I changed the transmission when 80000 mileage on it and now at 92000 mileage, the transmission went bad again. I already lost $3000 and now I have to spend another $3000-4000 to put another transmission.Sep 21, 2021

1 year Update 2/28/14 - after 1 year I still love the Sentra and have recorded 46.5 MPG average on a long 3.5 hour trip in the early fall last year using 87 octane gas. I wish Nissan would replace the windshield washer nozzles, as the spray hit at the wiper level, requiring you to use more fluid. It handles beautiful and feels like a big car. The back seat area is bigger than most mid size and full size cars, we love all the room. Bluetooth works perfect, tires are quite and wearing very well with regular rotations. I change ther oil every 5,000 miles with semi synthetic. End of update, Original reviews starts here: I just replaced my 2010 Sentra SR with a brand new Black 2013 Nissan Sentra SV with the 1st the styling is awesome and everyone checks it out. I love the front and the back. The newdriving LED lights up front make the car look impressive and the ride and handling has dramatically improved, especially when cornering - it seems as if the car dives into the turn making it feel like a much more expensive German import. Although the 2.0 liter was replaced with Nissan's tried-and-true 1.8 liter, there seems to be sufficient power on the highway and the car is extremely quiet, thanks in part to the Bridgestone Turanza's which I think are great tires. Fuel economy is excellent and I've never seen a car I owned get over 30 mpg city, like this car. The entire layout of the Sentra is new. The interior dash streches across the front and includes a nice radio interface with USB and XMsirius, Bluetooth and the intelligent key, all part of the Drivers Package. I opted for the SV because I get steel wheels with hubcaps, because I tend to hug the curb too much, so this will save me money. The back seat is now gigantic and can fit 3 large adults, but in our case, it's heaven for the kids. The trunk is bigger than previous Sentra and can fit my mountain bike in easier. Based on my last Sentra which logged 60K before I traded it, there were zero problems I encountered, so I assume this Sentra will be perfect too aside from a future brake job and tire replacement. It's actually a big car similar to mid-size offerings. It's worth it to drive this car because the Sentra is actually a great car for the price and with fuel mpg averaging 33 mpg and potential for over 40 mpg on the highway, it will keep costs down. I lease the new Sentra with $300 total cash out of pocket (that's everything), and got a $278 payment with 15,000 miles per year and 36 months leases. I prefer to lease. 2013 Nissan Sentra cvt transmission not being cover
I have a 2013 Nissan Sentra with 78,000 mile and now the transmission is no good the dealer tell me it the cvt and it's out of warranty. They need to replace the transmission and it going to cost me $4100 . I think its bs that a 5 year old car need a transmission it's my wife's car and see don't like going fast in it she drives the car 500 miles a week all highway miles at 65mph. Do anyone know all of the years transmission that will fit in a 2013. I am think to buy a car that is total hit in the rear with a good transmission and swap it in and sell the other parts to help pay for the repairs. SO I NEED YOUR HELP

Newly installed 2013 Sentra CVT pulses/revs/hesitates when going downhill
I have a 2013 Nissan Sentra SV which at 109,000 mi had the usual total CVT failure. I was told I needed to replace it with a new CVT ($5K installed) purchased from the local Nissan dealership. Transmission appears to work fine except when the car is going downhill at around 40 miles per hour it starts to hesitate then speed up then slow down. My original CVT never did this going downhill during the entire life of the transmission. I'm getting transmission judder trouble codes. Do I need to press the installation shop for a new warranty CVT replacement?
