Saab's SportCombi was well received when introduced in late 2005 as the company's first wagon in almost two decades. 2009 sees the 9-3 SportCombi receive Saab’s intelligent Cross Wheel Drive (XWD) system, which was developed in conjunction with Haldex out of Stockholm, as a standard feature. The XWD system engages the rear wheels only when necessary, such as during takeoff and low-traction situations, to maximize both grip and fuel efficiency. Also new for 2009 are a redesigned roof-rail and carbon fiber accents on Aero models, as well as Carbon Grey Metallic and Smoke Beige debuting as new exterior colors and Glass Grey Metallic replacing Parchment Silver.
Available in four trim levels, from 2.0T to Aero, the SportCombi comes with either a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine putting out a healthy 210 hp and getting an EPA rating of 18/27 mpg, or a 2.8-liter V6 that still hands out a respectable 15/24 mpg rating, even at 280 hp. The 2.0 is available with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.8 offers six speeds, manual or automatic.
Regardless of the trim chosen, buyers will be treated to a leather interior with a power driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, OnStar 8.0 with Turn-by-Turn Navigation and Bluetooth, and 16-inch alloy wheels. However, for those who want a bit more, a Premium Package offers a power passenger seat as well, wood trim, 17-inch wheels, Bose stereo, steering-linked Xenon fog- and headlights, heated seats, and a moonroof. The Aero additionally has a sport-tuned suspension, power sunroof, dual polished exhaust, upgraded seats, brakes, and styling upgrades to distinguish it from other trims. However, with the Aero, cargo capacity drops from an impressive 37 cubic feet to a still-respectable 30. Regardless, quite the drop.

Performance - acceleration good 0-60 about 5.5 sec, braking good, handling good,
Seat comfort good
Build Quality - No major repair done. But some small repairs.
Appearance - Exterior looks sharp and beautiful. Interior looks simple. Some cheap
looking plastic.
Cost of Ownership - gas mileage 20~21mpg, maintenance free until 3yrs 30K miles

A very nice convertible to drive it. With good weather in Hawaii is nice to drive around with the saab. The Performance, Braking & Handling are good. The Fun Factor is high. The cost of the ownership is not so high.Mar 16, 2011
