Write a reviewAs an entry-level luxury sports sedan, the Acura TSX combines Honda's technological prowess with Acura's accent on upscale appointments. For example, Acura's "standard" list on the TSX seems to include many of normal options on other brands - here are a few of them: Xenon high-intensity discharge headlights, automatic climate control with interior air filter, power glass tilt and slide moonroof, Acura premium sound system with 6-disc CD changer and XM Satellite Radio, and trip computer.
The high-winding 2.4-liter dohc, i-VTEC 16-valve four-cylinder engine delivers 205-hp at 7,100 rpm. A close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic are available. Performance inclined reviewers raved over the manual transmission, enjoying "snicking" the gears on the free-revving four. As with most Honda based four cylinder engines, they have to be kept on the "boil" to be effective, as they don't produce much torque. Yet, the 0-60 mph standard snicks by in 6.6 seconds. EPA rated for 22/30 mpg city/highway - though some reviewers reported mixed averages of 19 mpg, owners claim higher averages.
The TSX travels on a race-bred four-wheel double-wishbone front and multi-link rear with all-wheel disc brakes. For more fun, you can check the A-Spec suspension option. Safety features include ABS with electronic brake force distribution, front and side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags for all outboard passengers, and traction and stability control.
Interior materials and design underscore typical Acura quality. The five-passenger cabin features leather seating surfaces, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with assorted tech buttons, and an amazing optional DVD-based navigation system. Some reviewers found the voice-activation down right "scary" in its ability to understand commands under all kinds of noise/music intrusion situations. And given the size of the TSX, road, engine, and wind noise do intrude.
Combining technology and luxury with traditional above-average Acura reliability, the TSX holds its own against the other Japanese and European competitors in this market.

Just purchased car. It is in very good shape for 14 or old car and 130k miles. It is a very sporty looking car and has a lot of pep for a 4cyl. It has a Honda engine so we will see if it holds up to its name. Feb 11, 2022

Pros: Reliable, still looks and runs great after 13 years, comfortable. It has held its value very well.
Cons: Requires premium gasoline, not a good turning radius.

Great car for me. I purchased it in 2010 and it was new so I got a great deal. I paid the price of a Civic with the same options and more. It needs to rev to get power and that increases gas consumption. The interiror is impecable and I have no extra options yet need no more except the radio whic has no USB or apple interface that is sad. However I purchase an third party adaptor that allows me to connect my IPOD Classic.Mar 23, 2013

This is truly one of the nicest sport sedans I have ever owned. I originally leased it with the intention of getting another like I usually do at the lease end. However, I liked the car so much I kept it and really cannot imagine parting with it. It has probably the slickest shifting 6 speed I've ever driven and it's fun going to the store :-)Jul 02, 2012

2008 Base with navigation, lease...
Overall an ok car which was really
disappointing for me since I had a higher
expectation, and the reasons are:
Performance - acceleration and fuel
economy. The engine makes little low end
torque and feels lazy until VTEC hits
high cam (5.5-6k rpm), and the anemic
acceleration low end accel is exasperated
by the widely-spaced 5-spd autobox. Fuel
economy was not all that good for a 4-cyl
engine (18-20mpg), even when not using
VTEC at all. The K24 engine also idles
more roughly than I expected. The
sportsfhit has an acceptable shift time
but is a bit rough to use 1st-2nd gear.
The brake is weak and invokes ABS way too
often... thanks to Honda (oops, I mean
Acura) undersizing the discs and tires.
In city driving the turning radius is not
very good for U-turn or parking, and
although the suspension is adequately
firm and sporty yet smooth enough for
street driving, the car pushes wide and
understeers badly in tight corners, again
thanks to the undersized tires.
User interface - The navigation is low in
resolution and allows you touch-screen
interface on most operations except
panning the screen - to do that you need
to mess with a dinky lil "joy stick"
below the monitor. And to access the a/c
you must use the navigation screen, which
can be annoying when you first started
the car and have to wait for the
navigation system to boot up and accept
the warning label (roughly 5-10 sec).
All of the above hindered an otherwise
great value package ($30k MSRP) that
offers a high content equipment list,
beautiful styling in and out, quality
feel and build. The car exudes a
"sophisticated simplicity" (which means
it's pretty and classy) whenever I see
one on the street... but just not when I
am driving it. It's a shame... Honda
(oops, I mean Acura), please make the

I've now had my TSX for five years and it has been a great experience. In terms of performance, it has very good acceleration and braking. It is very solid on the road - very stable. It handles well but could have a tighter turning radius. Mileage on the highway very good. In the city with a lot of stop and go, just fair though. It runs quiet, and is a pleasure to drive - the seats are very comfortable. It's never been in the shop for anything but regular maintenance so far, and the cost of maintaining it has been reasonable. I continue to be really happy with it. Jun 22, 2010

To all the car people, parts are cheap so adding power isn't too expensive. No malfunctions whatsoever. Looks really sporty & small enough to dip in & out of any lil hole (not that hole people) Not a bad choice for a daily driver.Oct 31, 2009

performance wise- 205 hp 161 torque not engouh...but i will soon chip, intake, exhaust, and maybe headers.
Appearance- looks ok stock but i want to convert it from a tsx to a honda acorrd euro s, front grill and badages, euro lights, 8000k hids, rims and tints

Great car overall, a little bland on the styling, but I think they have fixed that with the new 2009 model. A whole lot of car for under $30000. Why buy an Accord for close to the same price, when you have a better bulit car, longer warranty, quiter, more powerful, better oerforming engine, six speed manual, and extra ammenities such as Bluetooth, Xenon headlights, memory seats, and much more!Dec 10, 2008

The 2008 Acura TSX is one of the most well-balanced packages available in the 30-grand price range. It is extremely well-appointed for an entry-level sedan. When i saaw it on the dealership i instantly fell in love with it. The car has 205 hp under the hood, maybe not as much as i would have hoped to have (other considerations were the Lexus IS-250, Nissan Altima V6, for example) but it is very fun to drive and very very comfortable as a daily driver. The Build quality is excelent. I personally chose the brushed aluminum interior on black, which i think is the sexiest and most luxurious type (Wood doesnt quite cut it for me). On the exterior, the TSX is quite remarkable, as it is very sleek, sporty and luxurious at the same time. As i said before, the TSX does not have an extremely powerful engine, but it is responsive (especially in shiftronic mode) and VERY fun to drive.
Overall, i would recommend this car to anyone who wishes a very pleasant and fun drive without sacrificing too much money in the process.Sep 05, 2008

Bang for buck...no other manufacturer offers anything even close to the TSX in its price range. Resale/residual is high as it is Honda. Fun car to drive with all the gadgets and it turns heads. It looks sleek, and feels sleek. It is a great car with the
price tag. I recommend getting it with all the extras.
We did! The gas mileage isn't bad at all, since i know
that is a big concern. The only downside is that this
car only takes premium gas, which means that its at

my dad said that since acura is part of honda, the tsx is similar to the honda civic in basic make.. the appearance is probably the only difference according to him.. along with the price.. i really like the appearance of it although the back looks a little off to me.. my friend said this car came up in a magazine as one of the best cars recommended to teenagers and i would think i would have to agree.. =)Apr 07, 2008
