The Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars, first produced in the summer of 1993 as a replacement for the Mercedes-Benz 190 models, are affordable mid-sized vehicles designed to attract new entrants into the luxury automobile market. Now on its fourth generation, which was unveiled in early 2007 in Germany and New York, the C-Class has seen major updates over its history, but began as a four-door sedan with rear-wheel drive and a choice of a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder or a 2.8-liter, six-cylinder engine.
In its early years, the C-Class was often called the Baby Benz, since it was smaller than the mid-range E-Class and upscale S-Class vehicles. But that term has largely gone by the wayside, as with each generation the C-Class line has expanded and grown more powerful. Originally available only as coupes and sedans, C-Class vehicles soon came to include sport coupes, wagons, hatchbacks, and all-wheel-drives, as well as high-performance vehicles with engines and bodywork by AMG, Mercedes' in-house sport tuner. In addition, Mercedes has expanded the line in other directions by introducing new vehicles, such as the CL and CLK cars, which are built on the C-Class platform and incorporate many C-Class components.
The C-Class vehicles are known for their sophisticated lines, smooth ride, comfortable interior suitable for day-long rides, and innovative technology.
The culmination of the line is the 2008 C-Class, which is larger, sportier, safer, and more luxurious and comfortable than its predecessors. The new C-Class is being offered in two models, a Sport Sedan and a Luxury Sedan. To tell the difference between the two, you can just look for the star.
The two new models are distinguished by their front grilles, with the 2008 Sport Sedan getting the Mercedes star positioned centrally in the grille, and the Luxury Sedan receiving the traditional grille treatment, with the Mercedes star mounted on the front of the hood.
The new C-Class models are powered by a variety of V6 engines and come standard with eight-way power front seats, a power sunroof, a new instrument cluster, two-zone automatic climate control, and a 100-watt audio system, as well as 17-inch wheels and such new features as an Agility Control suspension system.

The first thing i liked about this car when I first drove it was how smooth the ride quality is. It has a luxury sport feel. The Sport version has staggered wheels that gives it an aggressive sporty look which I like a lot. Comes with the sporty looking body kit... The only think I really didn't like about this car is the cost of parts.. It can get pretty expensive quick if something goes bad.. Parts are expensive for this thing. But if you can afford it and it doesn't bother you then GO FOR IT! It is a very nice ride..Jan 12, 2015

When I bought this car I was debating on this, a M3, a 335i or a corvette. I wanted a car the drive out of shear pleasure and enjoyment, not to be a primary driver. The M3 was nice, nimble and powerful, but I felt a little crammed and after a while of riding around the stiffer suspension was just not ideal. The corvette well it's a corvette so it was everything I wanted in a car, loud fast and sexy, but I was still bitter towards american cars after my falling out with my previous Chevy and faulty electronics. Then in came the C350, my dad had one and I always just enjoyed driving the car. smooth power and acceleration, the ride was amazing I can drive the car for hours and be satisfied.The 335i I just did not find as attractive and the Mercedes and after reviews on reliability I stuck with the Benz. It was still a four door and in the end proved to be the most versatile vehicle for what I wanted. It was fast but not the fastest, it drove like a dream and I still had space for my buddies and golf clubs.Mar 07, 2014

C300 lacks power somewhat but a C350 3.5L should do for the lack of power in the
C300 3.0L. Seats need a little upgrade because they tend to get uncomfortable a

Performance - the absolute power and the smooth drive
Build Quality- compared to the BMW roadster I had this is so solid on the road. The roadster is not for spead, it is for Sunday afternoon drives.

Performance is excellent for this diesel engine size.
Handling is great and is enhanced by the optional
Advanced Agility Control spec where when you press the
"sport" button the handling tightens up with quicker auto
gear changes.
Build quality is very good.
Fuel consumption is high 40s when cruising and high 30s
when pressing on.
Great looking car with comfortable sports seating and
decent size boot.
Fun to drive either when you're in a hurry or just want to
cruise.

with excellent equipment and accessories.
Makes great turns and the overall performance is

First step to what I really want, the AMG. Very solid, plenty of tech and decent performer for a 6. MCS is easy to use, car looks sexy with AMG wheels and sport package. Definitely worth upgrade to premium and multi-media packagesApr 30, 2009

Another temporary rental car. This was my first Mercedes experience. It is a very good car on all levels. The road holding is excellent. It brakes well and turns round corners with dedication, although I might add with a certain response time. That would be acceptable if the comfort would be exquisite, but it wasn't. That actually surprised me, because it was an elegance and not a sporty avantgarde! The ride is very 'German', but the seats make up for a large part because they're so brilliant. This is not my kind of comfort, I prefer the French softer way of seeing things. So if that's the comfort version, I'll have a sporty one, please.

Great breaking, acceleration is good enough to pass most cars on the freeway, handling is fine, steering wheel is stiffer and doesn't snap back as quick as, say Toyota/Lexus, but i'm fine with it. build quality overall is great, consider the C300 a baby S-class, with a smaller COMAND system, and slightly cheaper materials. Appearance is also great, I always get compliments on my car, and i really should wash it more.
Cost of ownership: relatively low, aside from the free service that i got from Mercedes-Benz, i have over 9,000 miles in less then a year, and i've gotten a flat tire, which cost me about 300 at the dealer. Gas mileage for me is 19.5, bear in mind i usually drive in the city, but have taken it on two roadtrips.
fun factor? fun enough, 6-speed automatic shifts nicely, and you can switch from a standard mode (starting on 2nd), or Comfort, (starting on 1).
i would recommend this car for those who want a more luxury/compact-executive sport sedan.
compare to: Lexus IS (i would avoid the bmw 328 or infiniti g37 comparison, since imo, they are for a different buyer)Dec 09, 2008

There is not a single thing I don't like about this car. Yes it is a tad slower than the BMW 335i but on the luxury side it is much better. the 335i is much too harsh while the Benz is really the best of performance with Luxury.
The audio system and the iPod integration are amazing and they also really did a superior job on Bluetooth integration.
Mine has the 18inch AMG wheels and the panoramic roof even today people on the streets are stopping to look at it.

Amazingly stunning car, I’ve owned 19 different cars over the last 12 years, ranging from a 4x4 to sport saloons, this one is the bets of the lot … by far. The Handling is precise and direct, braking phenomenal. This car, in all other areas, are supreme. Some people might say it’s a bit expensive, my experience say it’s worth every cent … and more. just replaced my 2005 C230 Sport with the newly redesigned 2008
C300 Sport...wow! what a difference, upgraded suspension rides
much smoother even with my upgraded 18" AMG wheels...handles
great. New V6 engine is powerful and exhaust note is nice. I love the
panarama sunroof and the navigation is pretty cool. Also love the iPod

I bought the C300 4 Matic, black on black with P2, multimedia package, This car is cool! Although I would like to have a bit more hp, but living in Boston, Multimedia package is great, Harmon Kardon sound system is fantastic. Average gas mileage is about 20 but mostly city driving. Very smooth ride, nice acceleration, steering is responsive. with the 4Matic I can go everywhere

I drove the C 220 DCI and C 320 CDI. Fantastic performance and economy. Ride is incredibly good. Steering is a bit light but can easily get used to it. The new pop-up screen is brilliant and GPS display is excellent.Feb 17, 2008

This car is on my top five list. Right next to the BMW Mercedes does one
of the best car performance. The handeling maches the incredible high
