Some new audio upgrades and a selective engine performance booster are added to the 2007 Subaru Outback. This popular crossover SUV comes in both sedan and wagon form, though the rugged and versatile wagon is the most popular model. Subaru offers a confusing number of trims for the 2007 Outback, but 3 engine choices are available. The 2.5-liter, 175-hp naturally aspirated boxer 4-cylinder comes in Base, 2.5i, L.L. Bean and Limited trims. A turbo version of this is available in the 2.5XT and hits 243 hp. The 3.0-liter H6 is a 6-cylinder boxer engine that gets 245 hp. The Outback seats 5 in two rows, with a cargo capacity that expands to 62 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. Standard equipment includes power features, a roof rack and air conditioning. More luxuries like heated leather seats, a sunroof and a navigation system come with the higher trims.
New in the 2007 Outback are a standard tire pressure monitor, MP3 capability and upgraded sound systems. The Basic model loses the power driver's seat. SI-Drive is now standard in the Outback XT. This allows you to select engine performance depending on whether you want a sporty drive or a more economical, gas-saving drive. There are 3 modes: Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp.
The 2007 Outback is popular for tackling snow and rough road conditions, though it has no low-range gearing for off-roading. The interior is comfortable, and the ride quiet and smooth. My alternator went bad and after driving the vehicle home to work on it I have a p0700 and p07035 code stating the 5th gear ratio is off. Could this be the tcm or do I need to replace my transmission?

What are known issues, maintenance, how much will it cost me to get the most out of it? The seller said he had, "replaced both the rear and front catalytic converters, replaced a head and head gasket." He also stated that it has had regular oil changes. Any help is greatly appreciated. my daughter bought this for 2700. its her first car, saved up for it. 2007 outback 2.5 limited with 200000 miles on it. we have had it a year. changed the alternator, and prior owner changed the starter. she bought new tires for it. it has eaten 3 brand new batteries dead. we are wondering if it is worth taking the car to an electrical mechanic to fix it. we found one with 250 down to start and i think it will be an expensive fix. but the resale on it seems pretty high. should we try to fix it? or how else can we get her money out of it?
My 6 cylinder LL Bean Subaru has been fine, until recently. A few times now the check engine and ABS brake warning lights came on and the cruise light was flashing. The engine would barely go and when I turned it off, it was revving at high speed. A diagnostic done twice says it needs a new accelerator pedal wiring and sensor unit. It's going to be a $500 -$600 job. Does that sound like a reasonable solution? I've tried loosening the gas cap already.
