The Suzuki Forenza got a significant makeover for 2006. Key changes included a new grille, reduced emissions, and higher quality interior materials. The number of trims goes down to 4 from 6 the previous year. This '06 version of Suzuki's budget compact sedan comes as a Base and Premium Sedan and Wagon.
Gas mileage averages out to 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway. Unfortunately, the 2.0 L, 126 hp I4 engine with standard 5 speed manual transmission and optional 4 speed automatic just doesn't quite cut it in a market where the V6 carries the day. All 4 trims have 4 doors, seat 5, and have front wheel drive. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, and cd player. Premium trims have optional sunroof.
Overall, most drivers reach the consensus that the 2006 Forenza delivers enough features for an affordable first car. Otherwise, the lower class materials and occasionally rough ride present only a couple of the many issues consumers encounter with this compact. Suzuki's slogan for the Forenza says 'It's gonna be a great ride.' If you're low on cash, this model will get you by until you earn enough to make the slogan a reality.

I really the like all the features in this car as far as safety storage and design. The drive train runs as smooth as the day I bought it. The electrical sensors in this car are S*%T!! If anything ever went wrong with this car it was a sensor 99.9% of the time. Fortunately they got cheaper to replace over the years. I wouldn't say it was a exciting driver but I would take a ride in this over my wife's 2003 Taurus ANY DAY! This model seems to carry a rather unfavorable reputation for some reason making it cheap but I cant really say I didn't get my moneys worth. It did what we needed from it dutifully.Jun 12, 2014

After driving this vehicle, I can say for the price and year youu can go wrong, Suzuki makes great car with affortable maintenance, fuel economy and realiable vehicles, very competitive against Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic , Nissan Sentra and even Hyundai Elantra Jan 07, 2014

The gas mileage is not the best. Not very comfortably when at full capacity. Great first car. Needs Ac looked at, it works fine just not very strong. Love the car. The paint is beautiful up close and in the sun..Jun 18, 2013

i have had almost everything break in this car including the engine which cost me 4k
all together this car which was suppose to be a gd deal for 3k has cost almost 9k i

I had to use one of these as a loaner car once. When I started driving this car away from the dealership, I thought, "damn this thing is slow!" I eventually realized I hadn't released the parking brake, and after I released it, there wasn't much difference. This car is a lot like an Elantra, except slower. A dull suspension and rental fleet interior made me wonder, "why do people even bother building cars like this one?" Warning: Driving a Forenza every day may induce suicidal tendencies.Apr 21, 2009

Transmission not shifting
i have i 2006 suzuki forenza with 102000 miles and just recently my transmission started acting up. I tried to pull away from a stop light and it took more acceleration than normal to go. Then i realized the check engine light was on. Not sure if it's stuck in a certain gear or not but it doesn't shift. i was going about 55 or 60 at about 3000 rpm's when normally it would only be about 2000. At first i thought maybe it could be low on fluid, but im not able to just check the fluid since there is no dipstick. It also shifts hard when going from park to reverse or from neutral to drive. It does start and run just fine so I'm not sure if it's a sensor. Is this my transmission beginning to burn up or (hopefully) a simple fix that won't cost 3000 or more dollars to fix?

Car won't accelerate
So I was driving through typical friday bay area traffic when I noticed my car failed to accelerate when I stepped on the gas pedal. No matter how far I pressed down on the gas pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate, nor was there an increase in RPMs. RPMs hovered around 1200, with an occasional spike of around 18-2000. The vehicle would slowly build up speed to about 20-25mph. When I finally coaxed it to a stop at the house, I turned the engine off, and turned it back on (I'm more of a tech guy, and I figured the reboot trick of most computers was at least a worth a try). Sure enough, everything worked fine. Or as fine as my broken car had been running. I can't say if a check engine light came on or not, as the CEL was on previous for a failing throttle position sensor (has it finally gone out?) and a bad break light switch. So, my question is, what do you think is the issue?
