Is subframe and timing chain cover worth replacing?
2007 versa leaking oil from timing chain cover. Also, subframe is very loose/weak. Was told control arms are affected. The car has 154k miles and runs fine. Is it worth fixing?

Available in either hatchback or sedan form, the Nissan Versa tries to outdo its competitors (Honda Fit, Volkswagen Yaris) in both size and power. At a foot longer than the Fit, the 2007 Versa can rightly brag about its interior cabin space. Legroom is ample even in the back seat, and headroom has also been expanded. Its 1.8-liter, DOHC I4 hits 122-hp, making it more powerful in numbers than its rivals, though with its heavier weight, not much faster or better at acceleration. The base S and SL trims come standard with a 6-speed manual. A 4-speed auto is optional on the S and a CVT transmission is available with the SL.
Though ABS and traction control are not standard, there are six airbags for improved safety. Even though it's being sold as a budget subcompact, the 2007 Versa packs in a lot of standard features, trying to emphasize that you don't have to sacrifice quality for a low price tag. Air conditioning, tilt steering, intermittent wipers, and a CD player all come on the base model. The SL adds on cruise control, power windows and locks, an MP3 player, and a rear armrest. Satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a sunroof are all optional. While the Versa touts its expanded legroom, the trunk is not particularly large. Seats do fold 60/40 for extended space, but they do not fold flat into the floor.
So far, the 2007 Versa seems to please owners. They praise the spacious cabin, the high fuel economy, and the extra leg and headroom unusual in a subcompact. Power is adequate and about what's expected for an economy car. Drawbacks include noise at high speeds, a rough ride on city roads, the small trunk, and the overly sensitive electronic steering.

Nice little car, don't expect do the 1/4 mile in 5 sec. it is after all a 4 cyl. hence the gas milage. I have the hatchback, lots of cargo room. fold the back seats down and you can transport longer items without to much trouble.Aug 03, 2014

Overall this is a great car I would recommend to anyone if your into low maintaince, great fuel economy & maybe a family of 4-2 being children it's great, if you have a bigger family this car is not for you me & my wife use it for our everyday use, work, great commuter,going to the park with our tennis equipment, fishing, my rods fit no problem as the seats lower for more room, church on Sundays with 2 adult friends & even grocery shopping, wev'e even taken long trips to bear mountain etc and it has never let us down, overall this is a great car to own & I would recommend to anyone.Jun 25, 2014

Nissan Versa 2007 is a good tool to save you money on the road, smooth engine, nice stick gear box of 6 speeds, bluetooth for your smartphone, alloy rims of 15 inches and TPMS tire system, I use to drive 200 miles in the city with 40 bucks of fuel or 350 miles on highway for the same price.Mar 20, 2014

This car is an good car for what it is. Small and compact, it gets around town very well. Not much Gitty-up because it is a gas getter, but enough to get you on the Interstate safely. Great on fuel mileage, as long as you are not using the Air conditioner. Get around 33 MPG. Hot months, usually get 25-28 MPG, depending on who is driving.Jun 05, 2013

For being a stock SOHC 1.8L besides the DC exhaust, to me and the way i drive its quite zippy an has pep. gonna be doing as much as i can afford to do to it. had it for almost 4 years and for me and owning a car for that long, is a record haha.May 05, 2013

My wife purchased this vehicle in 2007 when the versa was new to dealers as a model. It has held up great over the now 5 years that we have owned it. Gets great gas mileage and is very capable in terms of cargo room, seating room and interior quality considering the price. Seat cloth has held up very well as it is a micro-fiber type cloth and is very comfortable and durable. The vehicle is economical in nature so obviously a little lacking in power but less so than competitors that we have experienced. 6 speed manual can be a bit tiresome because of short first gear, but the short first gear also gives the car a little pep off the line that it may not have otherwise.

Typical Nissan Car. Well built, sometimes a little rattle here and there but nothing very important. Very good acceleration. The 1.6 uses a 5 speed, but it needs a 6 speed Urgently. The extremely soft suspension is a fun-killer, as the cars suffers from a lot of body roll, but this becomes a blessing in the day to day, specially if you live in a city with bad streets. By far, the best of the Nissan Versa/Tiida is the huge amoung of interior space. Specially in the backseat, you can seat 3 comfortably, 4 if you feel like carrying a lot of people.Oct 01, 2011

This car is great for what you pay for. We opted for the 6spd Manual transmission
only because I've heard alot of horror stories about the CVT.
We got 700km to a 37$ tank of gas on the highway on one vacation.

Easy to maintain and repair, no major downsides to report yet.

i really enjoy the largeness of the interior although it looks like a compact car it it very comfortable for everyone, including our 6'4" son, large trunk space. The only problems we've had so far are due to the squarish shape it sometimes gets pushed in high winds and we have trouble keeping the windows clear.Jan 29, 2009

I absolutely love my car. It is functional, efficient, yet stylish. It has an awesome CVT (continuously variable transmission) which means that when it shifts its doesnt like give you whiplash or anything like that. It is the SL model so it comes with a 6 cd changer, and auxillary, so I can plug my ipod or mp3 player. Its only down fall, if you like to go fast this is not the car for you, it has a 1.8 engine, so it doesn't have much get up and go. SL also come with an upgraded break kit, handling is excellent unless its windy, unfortunately this car catches the wind. It may not have the best acceleration, but this car can go fast, and it handles well at higher sustained speeds. I go about 80 on the highway and it handles like its going about 65. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone! I'm sure you could defintely fix this car up like install a higher powered engine if you don't like the acclereation. But yes overall, its an excellen car, very reliable, very efficient, very stylish, especially the SL hatchback, which is the one I have.Jan 03, 2009

I love having my Bluetooth Phone and Key system, the CVT tranny, and the six disc six speaker audio system. comforatable with lots of leg and head room, yet close to the ground for better cornering. My mother's car is a stable and satisfying one. It isn't spectacular, but affordable and durable. The Japanese originated Nissan Versa will get you from A-B in a good pace and on a good tank of gas that has good mileage. Where to start, It has more cargo room than alot of pick-ups and SUVs. It gets 35 mpg on the back roads and 45-60 on the highway(60 is if your speeding excessively). Its awesome on long trips, except if one person(except the driver) has there window open, you'll get a resonance from the wind(easily fixed, you just open the drivers window, or use the ac). The car is easy to drive, but hard to master, but when you do, its alil rocket, able to out corner and out accelerate most cars out there(suicide into the corner and your always in power band with the 6 speed) Its not a fast of the line, but it keeps acceling harder and harder as you go faster due to the intake setup that acts as ram air.Jul 04, 2008

Overall the car's been disappointing given it being brand new when we bought it. The gas mileage is much less then expected (25mpg's the best we've seen out of it, despite being a 6spd manual) and there are plenty of rattles, along with the dash warping and splitting within the first year and the front brake rotors also warping and causing excessive vibration. I would not recommend because in only 6000 miles we've been given more reasons to bring it back to the dealership then I'd like to admit. Update - tire pressure sensors have gone out, along with o2 sensor within first 25k miles! As far as I'm concerned, nissan makes complete garbage.Jun 23, 2008

Economical! Gets about 30 mpg highway, 25 city. It has a nice, posh-like interior and includes most of the bells and whistles such as a 6-CD changer, Aux outlet, cruise control, tinted windows, etc. Looks small, but is quite roomy.
