I have a friend who wants to sell me his 2005 Toyota Avalon with 225k Miles... he drove from ny to pa every day or a few times a week... With the right maintenance, could this last 350k?

The Toyota Avalon was redesigned for 2005. Toyota was apparently tired of the Avalon being labeled as an “old person’s car,†and made a goal of dropping the average age of the Avalon buyer from 67 top 60. To meet this goal, they redesigned the body to have a more aggressive, but still conservative, appearance, increased the horsepower, and offered a touring edition. The option of a front bench seat was eliminated, leaving only two power bucket seats.
The 2005 Toyota Avalon is available as an XL, XLS, Limited, or Touring. All share a 3.5-liter, 280 horsepower V6 engine, which is a slightly smaller version of the 4Runner’s. The base XL is well appointed, but the XLS and Limited come with high-end features like leather seating and faux-wood trim. The Touring is the Avalon’s attempt at a sport edition, and has stiffer suspension for a less floaty ride. Fuel economy is 21/33.
Drivers like the 2005 Toyota Avalon for its comfortable ride, generous amount of leg and headroom, power, and luxury amenities. Many drivers wish the rear seat would fold down for more trunk room, and many find the shifter to be overly complicated.

2005 Toyota Avalon XLS. Te features found on this car are comparable to or exceeds those found on similar luxury cars. The car rides smoothly, has a smoothe transmission, and very economical engine. It is very powerful with a 268 horse power 3.5 liter 6 cylinder engine that purrs, The interior is very quiet, I would happily buy another Avalon whenever I need to change my car. Dec 02, 2020

This, car is EXCELLENT in every way! It, give great gas mileage, a smooth and comfortable ride, very spacious, nice large sized trunk, and handles like a Champion! I LOVED MY AVALON when I had it! As above, nice car for the 4 of us, me, kids 6, 4, 2. Husband in Army and we move a lot at least every 2 years. I don't mind being a so-called Army wife it's a good life. But sorry this is supposed to be about my car. I once pulled a trailer from Texas to N. Carolina 1200 miles and car had no trouble. Never has until now. My Dad bought me the car in 2009 with 47770 miles now has 88700. Except for moving I don't go farMay 26, 2015

This car has been good to me and my family. Its been a good all around transports. I make many trips to Las Vegas to visit family and always take this car. Has great passing power and pretty good handling at over 100mph.Nov 04, 2014

I absoultely love this car! It came with Michelin tires and they seem to grip right through the snow (even in MN!). Super comfortable, luxurious without overdoing it, very spacious. I do wish that they made it easier to upgrade to an after market radio but that's not too big of a concern.Apr 17, 2014

If you are on the fence thinking about buying a used Avalon, just do it. I loved this car, it was trouble free (I bought it new, had it for 5 years) and I loved driving it. I have considered buying a used one as a second car just because I loved it so much.Jul 18, 2013

This is the first sedan purchase I made - I looked at the Audi A6, Mazda 6, Volvo S60 and Hyundai Sonata. I stopped at a Toyota lot just to see what they had, and at the time I never heard of the Avalon. After driving it this was my clear choice. Ride, style, features, cost, room - for me all clear winners. And knowing it was a Toyota I expected it to be very reliable, which for the past 8 years it has been!Jun 17, 2013

We have driven Toyota Camry's or Avalons for almost 30 years. The Avalon brings the reliability of the Camry to a larger and more luxurious platform. The rear seat legroom is unmatched in it's class. I don't think you can get a better vehicle for the price.Feb 23, 2013

My Avalon is awesome! It is an amazingly comfortable traveling car. The rear seats have more room than any other car I've owned or driven. Three car seats fit comfortably. The car has power and pickup, it can pass with ease in a tight spot. It gets great gas mileage for V6, I average 22 mpg. The interior is pretty, silver/cream/tan. It has a 6 CD changer and a great sound system. Nice sunroof. I've loved my car.Aug 08, 2012

I"ve owned several cars in my day and this is one of those cars I shouldn't have sold. I bought this car used with 60K miles on it and didn't think twice. When I bought all service records where in the car and it was pretty much showroom. I had always thought these cars where beautiful and it was one of my dream cars. This car was wicked fast for being so big, got 33 mpg on the highway if you knew how to drive it and was great in any kind of weather. The ride was quiet and plush like you would expect out of lexus, and had little road noise. The was a great car for the money, and I can promise that for the price of these cars and the amount of features you get I WILL buy another one. Sep 09, 2011

Outstanding Automobile!! Never had a
problem of any major nature.
Using cruise I consistently got over 30mpg
on the road on 87 octane gas
and synthetic oil. Easy to drive,
everything where you reach it, smooth
quiet and comfortable.Rear passenger seat
is like sitting in your favorite leather

It was going to be Lexus or Avalon. And after comparing year to year features the Avalon won. What stood out: the 05 & 10 Avalon body styles are the same. Not so with the Lexus. 05 to 05 the Avalon has more horse power, better MPG, dual, compared to single exhaust, more room inside, and larger dimensions on the outside. I purchased the car with 40,000 mi. on the odometer. And after 5,000 mi. around town, with limited freeway driving, I have averaged 22mpg.Sep 22, 2009

This car is nice!!!! Runs smoooth, A LOT OF SPACES IN THE BACK....LADIES. This car also has a sport shifter. Average MPG i think is 22MPG. 3.5 Liter. I bought it for $13,000 From the toyota dealer. A very liable car!!!

Being a die-hard honda fan It has taken awhile to get used to driving a LARGER car again! Parking lot manuevers at times can be a little intimidating! On the road though, this big sedan can sure get the job done! Performance, ride quality and reliability are first rate. Power windows don't work one day they were fine and next day nothing
I have 2005 Toyota Avalon and the power windows will not go down. None of them front or rear. Drivers switch or individual on each door, nothing. I have made sure they are not locked from driver door control. If you say fuses, please tell me where the fuse is and a crash-course in changing fuse. I have never done that before, or is it the switch or something else? Everything else works fine. Or is this something I should not attempt by myself and take to dealer. Thank You :)
