The Nissan 350Z saw a few changes for 2005, including standard tire pressure monitors across the board and a more powerful engine in some models. In addition, Nissan released the Anniversary Edition, celebrating 35 years of Z cars, and another new trim, the Grand Touring edition.
The 2005 350Z came in seven separate trims, with a few of those available as convertibles. The trims include the base model, the Enthusiast and Enthusiast convertible, the Anniversary Edition, the Touring and Touring convertible, the Grand Touring convertible, the Track, and the Performance. The entire lineup shares a 3.5-liter V6, but while the base, Enthusiast, Touring, and Performance models retained the old 287 horsepower, the Aniversary, Grand Touring, and Track models upgraded to 300 hp. Fuel economy for all models is about 20/26 mpg.
The 2005 350Z has many fans, who like the car's looks, handling, and performance, as well as the fact that it is quite affordable considering all the true-sportscar features it comes with. One frequent complaint is the poor rear visibility. Other drivers complain that the ride is bumpy, but many contend that is par for the course with a sports car.

Couldn’t have been more impressed. Way more fun than I expected and I expected a good bit. The acceleration was about what I expected. However the handling was off the charts. I live in the Appalachian mountains and this thing carved up the mountain roads like a knife through warm butter. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Oct 17, 2023

Bought a 2005 350z 35th Anniversary Edition back in 2005 and I still have it today, 18 years later. Although I only drive it about 300-400 miles a year now, its such a blast to drive! True enthusiast car with the 6 speed manual transmission. My daily driver is a Tesla, but on occasion, I bring this bad boy out on the street because its so enjoyable to go through the gears and cut up the curves in the road! I cant imagine ever selling this car!May 22, 2023

While Nissan definitely cut a few corners to keep the 2005 350Z's price down, it was and is a beautiful car that goes fast and handles well. Power is there all throughout ..definitely not a slouch at low RPM's. Nice utility with hatchback, although the rear strut brace takes up a fair amount of space. Output from the standard halogens is sub-par though. Have to step up to the Enthusiast or Performance models to get Stability and Traction Control.
Only real problem I had was a strange coolant leak that seemed come out of nowhere..other than that no real issues.
Overall, a great performing and handling sportscar with the moves to match its exotic looks! Jan 19, 2013

The car is great fun ride but definitely not gas friendly. Avg 100 gal for every 20 dollars. Very stylish and a nice smooth ride. Although its definitely not a road trip type of vehicle to use unless you want to make several stops to stretch because it is a stiff ride.Sep 27, 2012

Perfomance- Acceleration is a blast, not the Brembo brakes so braking takes a little more than prefered, handling is excellent but would go more for s2000 rail type handling.
Build quality- Has never needed any repairs up to date, regular brake pads, oil, serpentine belts and tire maintenance.
Appearance- The car looks beautiful and speaks for itself, once you get in the interior trim is not as comperable to the exterior.
Cost os ownership- I get about 22mpg city and 27 hwy, $40 oil change!!!

this is truely an amazing car. as soon as you climb into it, you have this sensation knowing you are in a true sports car. the sleek interior allows for complete fuctionallity for the driver. plenty of foot room, for even the biggest of passengers. the sheer power of the engine is well rounded, just to tap on the gas is enough to feel the car come to life. with adding a cold air intake it just goads to drive harder over 4000 rpms. its not hard to bring this car into to triple digits speeds without hardly realizing it.
The Suspension is truely responsive stock. no doubt you can attack any corner with having minimal body roll. it may not be the fastest down the straight away but when it comes to cornering, this car will have them beat.
styling for this car is one to truely stand out. no joke to get heads turning as i drive along in my Z. the aerodynamics of this car very much so take away that wind pushing you along the road, you actually feel how you are cutting through the air, a sheer sense you own the road.
as for gas mileage what can you expect from a sports car. im certainly happy with what i get. i run premium quality gasoline through this car only. in town i seem to average 14-16 mpg and 24 once out on the open road. not bad for stock standards. im sure with a few minor tweeks and addons i would be able to inprove this. now im no mechanic bu i certainly know my way around an engine bay, but compared to many newer cars where they have just as much electronics running the engine as they do mechanics. this one is certainly much easier to work around. engine is quite compact and easy to see whats going on.
this car is fun to drive. very comfortable as a daily driver, yet sporty enough to feel like you are in control of the road. if you ever get a chance, take a test drive, see what you are missing. even if you get a chance to just cruise along in one. definately one car to check out. Dec 08, 2010

It's the rebirth of the Z car. It's reasonably powerful, an excellent coupe, and has top notch handling. It has excellent styling which has now been surpassed by the 370Z. It's overall performance makes it agile especially when you need it.Nov 09, 2009

I love that you can take turns like nobody's business. It will be classic forever!!! Ownership is somewhat expensive. Gas is premium, tires are low profile (expensive), and convertible. It's actually my dad's car but anyways... The car is
abosolutely fantastic on acceleration as a 6 speed, you
really get a good drive out of this car. The car is
topped out from the dealership so it has all the
performance body parts. It sold for about $45k which
is decently priced. Absolutely love this car, took it on
prom and it got countless looks all day/night.

287 BHP outta the factory, can't complain there. It has
very nice acceleration 0 - 60 in 5.3 (average). It looks
beautiful on the outside with a drivers cockpit on the
inside :) Gas is just below a normal 4 banger sedan
and almost equivalent to a V6 sedan. Not much work
is needed on Nissan's because they're well built. Super

Love my Z Car. Great performance, fun to drive and looks great. I little hard to see traffic on the sides of the car - really bad blind spots on each side of the car. But I'm super short so that can be a real problem for me. The six speed is fun to drive but firs gear is really short - sometimes I just start out in second to avoid the issue. You get 280/300 or 313hp (depending on year) compared to same hp of a Cayman S..but 20000 EUR cheaper! OK, its still not a Porsche and the middle-engine Cayman is a class of it's own. BUT - the Cayman, the new AudiTT and the 350Z share the same general design..but the 350Z was the first of them.
The rear of the 350Z is dirty and therefore know as one of the best drift-cars available... and I love it dirty! But anyway you may drive him safely (with ESP on) and relaxed as a daily car. But if you go to the edge it is definately more uncompromising than a Porsche which may drive every housewife with same speed. The 'Pack'-interiour comes along with great Bose-sound and 6CD-charger, Xenon, Speedcontrol etc.. no need to spend any extra dime..except GPS maybe.Mar 18, 2008

Definitely a fun weekend car to take up into the twisties or to the track. Not a lot of horsepower and torque but enough to have fun with. The stock brakes are weak anything more than spirited driving. Consider the track/Nismo edition with the Brembos. Jan 16, 2008

This car belongs to my father's girlfriend who often - even though not every time I ask - give me the keys for a spin.
It is a wonderful car, no question about that. Yes, it is unfortunately "only" the 280hp version (not the 300 or 313), but God it goes!
I am well aware it's a heavy car, but I dare anyone who drove one of these to say that it FEELS heavy, because it just doesn't! Noisy? Yes, but that's music coming out of this exhaust system.
It proved to be, so far, extremly reliable and only the brakes and tyres must be changed too often to please the owner, and she doesn't care much when I explain that it is because of the weight of the car. You don't feel it when you drive it, but the brakes and tyres do!
Another issue is the interior quality. Well, it looks nice with the Satnav and the ventilated leather seats (that we fitted as a retrofit in a Nissan dealership) but the plastics, the switches just don't feel strong enough. We've had this car for 2 years now and I think it's gonna be gone soon but even in this short amount of time, the interior seems to have been made 20 years ago!
Well, I'm not being fair here: forget what's inside, just look at it, just drive it ... it's probably one of the best coupes ever. And that's even before you consider the pricetag!Jan 15, 2008

Neat car. I hate the pop out cupholder on the passenger side though. The first few times I played with it I thought, "tee hee neat." But now it rattles. And I want it to die.
Other than that, its pretty fast, not hard on the eyes, and the steering, shifting feel, and brakes are all very nice. The ride isn't bad either.Jan 03, 2008

Radiator
Yesterday I was driving and started to see smoke coming from under the hood. The car started jumping and I pulled over. When I opened the hood coolant was spilling from the overfill so I filled the radiator back up with water. I got back in the car and drove a little further until I heard something pop. I got back out and the radiator had blew. I am going to replace the radiator but wanted to know if it would just be a bandaid or if that would be it. Like maybe something caused the car to over heat. If it was low coolant levels then why did the radiator blow after I refilled it? Thanks.
