No changes for the 2005 Audi TT. It still comes as either a Coupe or convertible Roadster, with three engine choices in each. The base model starts with the 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder, 180-hp turbocharged engine and 6-speed Tiptronic auto/manual shift and front-wheel drive. The 1.8-liter, 225-hp turbo engine is matched with a 6-speed manual transmission and quattro AWD. And, finally coming into its own performance-wise, the 3.2-liter, 250-hp turbo V6 and DSG auto/manual transmission boosts the TT's muscle and smooth shifting for optimal performance at top speeds. The 3.2 comes only with AWD.
The soft-top convertible is manual on the base model, but electric on the higher-horsepower engines. When it's down, it sucks up trunk space, leaving virtually no storage room. The trunk on the Coupe is surprisingly large, and with the rear seats folded down, is able to hold enough luggage for those fun weekend getaways the Audi was made for. For those who can't wait, the 2005 TT works great during the week too, with enough legroom and comfortable seats, plus good fuel economy to make it an abnormally fun commuter car, though the rigid suspension can feel still on city roads. Audi is known for luxurious interiors, and the 2005 TT makes sure you are pampered inside while getting your thrills on the outside. Standard leather seats, climate control, adjustable seats, power mirrors, and a Bose stereo keep you comfortable behind the wheel. Aluminum accents make it sleek and modern, and the red-illuminated dash adds some sporty flair.
Owners love the way the 2005 TT handles curves crisply and accurately. The car is perhaps too heavy for true sports car performance, but the quattro AWD makes amends by adding practicality and versatility to the TT, making it able to compete against snow and rough roads. Tight turning and precise cornering, as well as the smoothness of the DSG and power of the 3.2-liter V6 make this the preferred model. Owners love the trunk size and comfortable interior. Though the 3.2 is quick off the line, drivers report turbo lag in all other engines, and the tendency for the rear shelf to rattle. Road noise can be loud. On the wish list are power seats and better cupholder location. Audi customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

The Audi TT SLine for 2005 is a solid car with quality engineering on display. The drive is flat and fast at highways speeds(plus a little) but also totally manageable and comfortable for a Sunday cruise. Only gripe is that it’s a tight fit as a sports car should be. Headroom is adequate, shoulder space is for close friends inside, especially if you shoehorn two people in the back. I bought the car used, with around 50K miles. I'd researched the maintenance history, check CARFAX, and had a local German car specialist do a pre-purchase inspection. The car was beautiful to look at, had a wonderful interior...styled like a piece of art that actually functioned well. What looked like metal, really was. Great leather...just a cool place to be. I liked having a four cylinder for the gas mileage, but the turbo gave enough power when needed. Likewise, I liked having the quattro for poor weather commuting as well. All that said, every time I turned around I had another sound, idiot light, fluid leak, or burp that sent me back to the repair shop. And nothing proved cheap. Wheel bearings, window regulators, instrument panel switches, just a series of stuff that should have been nickel and dime but were several hundred bucks a shot....and that's with me shopping parts off the internet...my mechanic (now much richer), an Audi specialist, said they're good cars but can be fragile, they just don't take to hard use. I suspect one of the previous three owners had thrashed the reliability right out of it. The charm wore off after 6 months and I sold the car. Just one of those relationships that looked better from a distance. If you can find a one-owner, perfectly tended TT...go for it, otherwise, prepare to open that wallet for repairs.Aug 11, 2013

Performance - Superb acceleration, braking, handling
Build Quality - never needed repairs, no squeaks/rattles
Appearance - both interior and exterior styling is fantastic.....looks just like the add in most car magazines
Cost of Ownership - good gas mileage,low maintenance

Beautiful, nice interior with the extensive use of
alluminium.
Seats and the suspension are really hard, the backrest is
not really adjustable.
A number of issues with the electronics: driving lights, cd-
changer, folding roof.

Is really my husbands car, but I just Lurve it so much, I sneak out in it whenever I can, Can't wait to upgrade to yet another Audi, wish it could be the R8! ha ha. Check the review of the coupe. Additionally the roadster has actually no trunk which is more or less normal in this class, but still there are positive exceptions to find. Beside that it is a great car for weekendtrips and to show off with, but still with an image of understatement. Windsituation inside is absolutely OK and with wind deflector nothing to complain about. Rooftop worked well and quick.Apr 14, 2008

Audi TT acceleration
I bought an 05 TT 3.2 ltr automatic a couple of months go from an Audi dealer in SoCal. It has 25k miles and one owner. The car sat a lot and I had to replace 3 dried out engine mounts right away. The problem I’m having now feelis like a delay when I’m initially accelerating from a stop. The engine revs and a split second later the transmission engages and the car bolts forward. It also does it in reverse. To preventing it from bolting I have to accelerate very slowly until I feel the transmission engage and then I can increase the acceleration. I’ve also noticed that when i put the car in park and take my foot off brake the car will roll more than seems normal until the transmission abruptly stops the roll. My mechanic checked the transmission fluid and told me that this particular transmission uses a thicker fluid that takes longer to warm up. I assume that’s correct and I notice it more when I first drive the car in the morning. However it doesn’t go away once the car is warmed up. I don’t know how the car was serviced during it's 13 year:/25k mile life so I don’t know if any damage was done. I appreciate any advice you can offer.
