I stored my MR2 spyder like always for the winter. This year I went to start it and it turns and turns and turns but will not fire up. What could it be and how can I try to elimintate possible issues.

With the exception of a few new options, like a limited slip differential, the 2004 Toyota MR2 Spyder saw very few changes for the model year.
The 2004 MR2 Spyder came in one trim level, with very few available options. The handful of choices included leather seating, the SMT, and cruise control. The engine, which was mounted in the middle of the car, was a 1.8-liter, 138 horsepower four-cylinder. The transmission was a five-speed manual, and it had rear-wheel drive. The top is designed to sit flush with the body of the car when down, so no cover is required. Fuel economy is about 25/32.
The number one reason why drivers say they love the 2004 MR2 Spyder is that it is fun to drive. With its nearly complete lack of storage space and poor performance in the snow, it is not a very practical car, but owners cite its good looks, excellent handling, and Toyota Reliability as reasons why they enjoy the 2004 Spyder.
