2004 jeep liberty wipers stop when A/C is on?
When the a/c is turned on, my wipers stop working. When the a/c is turned off they resume working???

Just two years old, the Liberty debuted as a 2002 model. It was significantly improved for 2003 with improved on-road stability. The 2004 model offers further, substantial upgrades in safety equipment, and in comfort and convenience options. For example, Chrysler's Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS), which unlocks doors and turns on interior lights five seconds after an airbag deploys, is standard for 2004. New options include a tire-pressure monitor; and UConnect, a clever bit of hardware and software that integrates your cell phone into the Liberty's stereo system.
The 2004 Jeep Liberty is available in three trim levels: Sport, Limited Edition, and Renegade. Each is offered with two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Two engines are available: a 2.4-liter inline-4 and a 3.7-liter V6. The four-cylinder engine is available only with a five-speed manual gearbox. The V6 is available with a heavy-duty five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic that was revised last year for smoother, quieter operation.
Sport and Sport 4WD come standard with the four-cylinder engine, five-speed manual transmission, cloth interior, wind-up windows, manually operated mirrors, and 16-inch tires on steel wheels. A six-speaker stereo with CD player is standard. Air conditioning is optional, however. Power windows and other features can be added as options. The optional V6 is available with manual transmission or an automatic.
Limited Edition models offer upgraded interior amenties and a better grade of cloth upholstery. Limited and Limited 4WD come standard with the V6 engine and automatic transmission. Options include a programmable overhead console, power seat adjusters, deep-tint glass, power heated side mirrors, a security group, and an AM/FM/cassette/CD stereo with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and Infinity speakers.
Renegade is a specialty model with a roof-mounted light bar, rock-rail protection, and black body-side moldings. Renegade 2WD and 4WD models come standard with the V6; heavy-duty five-speed manual transmission; air conditioning; cruise control; tilt steering; 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; power windows, mirrors, and locks; illuminated keyless entry; roof rack side rails; and many other features. Renegade 4WD models include a skid-plate package. Automatic transmission is optional.
Drivers report the 2004 Jeep Liberty is fun to drive and handles well. They also report that the Liberty gets poor gas mileage.

The SUV sold for $3500, including taxes, and did not work for two weeks. Major issues --both motor mounts had to be replaced; steering rack was leaking; Transmission pan had a leak; needed ignition coils; the heating system doesn’t work – needs a heater core; Air conditioning does not get cold; needs blower resistor and mode actuator; needs a fan clutch; right front window regulator was broken; left front window regulator was going bad
Minor—seat belt switch; needed four tires; right rear turn signal; left front signal; needed all spark plugs replaced; airbag light permanently on

Its a clean car with good reliability that has the ability to go off road if needed. It is great with the winter and in comfortable to drive in all weather conditions. The cars acceleration is normal for a car its size and it handles safe.May 06, 2015

It's my first SUV and got it on a good deal. Live in a underground parking lot so I have to make a lot of turns and this car can do it pretty well. Can store a lot with the back seats down, makes it great for snowboarding trips.May 05, 2015

I like more than I dislike. Been through two batteries and a tranfer case. Front drivline is needing to be replaced but 4x4 still works great so. Thumbs up for my Jeep! You will not be sorry for getting a trail rated rig.Mar 18, 2014

This little Jeep is a good one, no matter what the Wrangler guys say. No, it's not a Wrangler, but still gets the job done. I don't use it the way a four wheel drive Jeep built on a truck platform is intended to be used, but I'm sure if I did I would like it even more. Oct 22, 2013

Loved the way it handled the road and the snow. It has a truck chassis and is a very safe car to drive. Great racing-green color. Put in a new radiator and kept tires aligned and balanced. Felt very safe in all kinds of weather. Was a second car and traded in other car for a newer SUV.Oct 15, 2012

My jeep has high milage but still runs great. I change the oil every 3000miles. Just replaced the original battery from 2004 model!! So battery life is good 2. Love the gas advantage!!!! I feel safe in my jeep. Maintenance price has been fai-replaced break padsa and a/c main line. I have align once but may have to do another complete wheel balance AND alignment next year.Sep 24, 2012

A good city SUV, wheelbase is too short to be comfy over the road. Also, the SWB isn't too good on snow or ice, had to add dedicated snow tires for winter confidence. Bad door trim design captures snow and ice, along with road salt has led to extensive rust even though we do take care of our vehicles.Aug 24, 2012

Had to replace the Waterpump at 55,000. It cost about $53 for the pump and my
wife and I installed it our selfs. Performance is good. I like how it looks.
Maintenance isn't to bad just that water pump. I love my Jeep. Definitely

Absolutely amazing car. Bought it the day it came onto the lot. Extremely reliable and gets great gas mileage for an SUV. The 4WD on this car is unreal, it can push through snow as if it was a Hummer. Take it rock climbing, skiing, everywhere. Yet most commonly it is my commuter vehicle between two jobs and school. Pretty solid, strong, reliable vehicle. Some components seem to not hold up over time though. Have put 75k miles on my 2004. Original window motors have high chance of failure, cost around $400 to replace each one. Had 3 replaced. Some driver's seat components have failed. Seatback adjustment lever broke off. Seatbelt lock broke, seatbelt fraying, and leather prematurely worn. Gets the same gas mileage as a much larger full size truck(16city/20hwy). Plenty of cargo space. Overall I have enjoyed my vehicle. Wish it got better gas mileage and more robust interior parts.Jun 18, 2011

Performance- Not the slowest vehicle I've driven, but really lacking power for
its engine size, Off road performance was pitiful, IFS limited suspension flex,
lack of limited slip diffs made it really hard to crawl. Its just not an offroad Jeep,
unless it built to be.
Build Quality- The fit and finish was nice, Its probly the nicest vehicle I've
owned and made many cross country trips. It had issues with the 3.7 and
random cylinder misfires, If I had to do it again I would buy a Diesel.
Appearance- It is in my opinion the best looking 4 door Jeep. I hate the newer
style (2005-2007??) When they facelifted it they destroyed its good tough
looks.
Cost of ownership- Gas mileage sucked, I only got around 18 highway mpg, I
think my personal best was 21 highway on a cross country trip. Check engine
light was constantly coming on, I bought it with only 70,000 and had more

I love the upgrades, options, and pretty much everything about it but the motor. I wish the 3.7 had more power, that or i wish i could have found a Common Rail Diesel liberty. The aftermarket options are great for the liberty too.Jan 27, 2010

The damn thing had balls... with the factory 245 bhp 3.7 liter naturally aspirated motor, this thing hauled ass for a Jeep. Of course being a Jeep it had an amazing 4wd system that got it out of anything unless it bottomed out... which was all too often.Nov 15, 2009

I enjoyed the liberty, but this was my second one. I had isses with handling, even after the ball joint replacements. Had a funky vibration after driving for periods that would allow car to 'warm up' and a vibration in the steering wheel would begin shake like out of round wheels.Aug 16, 2009

3 inch lift and 31 inch tires make the renegade live up to its
aggressive looks and off-road performence. the engine, 3.7
liter v6 is still lacking in power to accelerate the 4000 pound
lug, but the handling around corners is better than you would

I only have done regular maintenance oil, tires, brakes ( after putting on about 45,000 miles!) one tune-up, and I just replaced the original battery :) I drive alot on the highway so its handles well...and the 4x4 works great when needed for Ohio weather!Sep 30, 2008

I've only owned it for 7 months, but so far I love it. I wish they made the Renegade model with the diesel engine. Currently I'm averaging about 20mpg, so it isn't too bad. I took off the roof rack because I think it looks better without it. Looking at the engine, everything is fairly easy to get to and oil changes are cake. I have the 2.4l I4 powertech motor and it gets me around. Bad gas mileage on the V6 powertech motor. 2WD sucks but the 4WD with 2 open differentials isnt much better though. Lockers on front and back are high reccomended as even the renegade trim usually comes with 2 open differentials.Mar 25, 2008

Where to start?
The amount of options that you can choose from, and models.
- automatic transmission with 6 gear for increased gas milage.
- rear differential slip.
- 4x2 to 4x4 shifting on the fly, up 88 km an hour
- small & nimble, amazing turning radius
- comfortable, but yet sporty handling for a SUV
- factory skid plates
- sentry key, electronically coded chip in the key
- class III hitch, towing up to 5000 lbs for V6 is the highest in its class
I like the first generation rounded shape, that was use for about 6.5 years.
It was more recognized as apart of the Jeep family.

I love my jeep except for the transmission problems. The new transmission slips as well, but I'm just riding out my lease. It is very comfortable and roomy, and I feel very safe in it overall. Highway gas mileage is acceptable and the stereo system rocks. Dec 15, 2007

I love my '02 jeep liberty. I drove a wrangler for about a year and a half, but the rough ride was too much for me. After I test drove the liberty, I fell in love with the smoother ride. This may not be everyones impression, due to the fact that I have a bad back/neck due to a Truck wreck a few years back, but I think that our 2004 Liberty rides very rough. In fact, I seem to crave Dramamine when ever I have to drive, or ride in it.We have the trail rated version, so I dont know maybe that is a stiffer suspension?
