Despite all the advancements Honda has provided over the years, the 2004 Civic DX and LX still do not have an antilock brake system. Purchase prices are high, although Civics offer great trade-in value. Engines are fuel efficient with very low emissions. Civic interiors are roomy, crash test scores impressive, and the cars have very high customer loyalty. Consumer rating for this automobile is 9.1 out of a possible 10.

If your looking to drive something to work and back this is it. Would recommend, I have 195k on the clock and still running strong. Maintenance is very minimum and it averages 34-35mpg on highway and around 30 in the city if you keep it below 70mph.May 22, 2015

The car is very comfortable and is build very solid. The maintenance is very cheap and it does not need it often. The Car is perfect for long distance community work due to it delivers 39 to 40 miles per gallon. Dec 30, 2012

loved this car put 38 dollar gas in and my talk is F and brakes, tires and parts for this car were cheap so yea loved it but not fast. encourage kids or people who want less expense to purchase this car because gas and everything is so cheap but if you are the type who want to speed and go crazy this isnt for you and im that type because i love to speed and drive fast and with this car i cant so yea.Dec 02, 2012

Runs well no problems with anything. Though the steering wheel forces me into a
weird position to cover the brakes due to my height (6'0"). I would recommend
this car to anyone except for the very tall. This could be fixed with aftermarket

Purchased new in 2004 and it became my daily driver in 2009. Up until recently the Civic was reliable. As the car has aged it has had some problems. It's not common in Honda's but I had to replace the head gasket and radiator. I still think it's a great car even with some of the set backs I have encountered.Oct 19, 2011

Acceleration sucks, Get a K swap. Handles well after you make a few
upgrades. Cheap, fun to drive, brakes could use an upgrade should be
all around disc brakes. In my opinion ditch the single cam as soon as you
can lol

Honda Civic 2004 1.6 SE (Petrol) Performance is good, handling OK but slightly too
much body roll in corners. Build quality is top notch. Exterior appearance a bit dull,
interior comfortable and well made. Fuel economy 34mpg about town driving. A

Yolonda the Honda is an awesome car. Wicked on gas. 750km's off a tank. If you buy a trim level make sure you buy an LX. DX and DX-G are very basic. LX has all power options. I highly recommend it.Jul 21, 2010

It pretty sleek for a compact car, looks good in black. Great gas mileage, low maintenance, easy to maintain. Parks easily. Accelerates OK. Brakes good. No regrets, best small car I ever owned. Next up: a black Honda Accord. Love it.Apr 01, 2010

It does about 0-60 an about 6 seconds which is a very
good compared to normal un-modified cars..
Its has never needed any major repairs so far but had a
bit of minor repairs i suppose..
The style is of course quite old but for a 2004 model car it's
not bad i think...
It's a lot of fun to drive allthough i've never driven it much,

Acceleration was steady, but slow. To be expected of a very small 1.7 L SOHC engine. Eager to respond and perform - thought it was a Rottweiler, but performed like a Chihuahua at times. Braking was Ok (it came without ABS). Handling was AMAZING, it was like the thing was on roller skates. It never needed repairs - and I was NOT easy on this car. Appearance - it was "cute" and "tiny". Cost of ownership was NOTHING....this car had great gas mileage - almost hysterical at how good it was. I could get 35-40 mpg on the highway. This car was fun to drive, but not made for tall people.Oct 03, 2009

162 mph.. top quality motor.. 225 bhp.. v-tech is wicked with an induction kit. gud interior, very sporty, put a dc sports exhaust system on it and itll growl like a rabid dog. bout 13 grand to buy, fuel is gud unless u live in the v-tech lolSep 06, 2009

car is great not many problems mechanically and it very cheap on gas... even if you push it. but its not really worth pushing it is not that fast, all i can say is that it is fun to drive aimlessly because on a full tank of 40 liters you'll about 550 - 600 km well i do atleastJul 29, 2009

I love this car! Cheap on Gas, Reliable, Perfomance is alright its a civic for crying out loud. Build Strong, Appearance is alright its a commuter car. Its fun to drive has a bit of power considering its a 4cyl. Doesn't Need much Maintenance at all. Brakes and Oil Changes.Jul 25, 2009

the accelaration is perfect.Braking has alittle problems,handling is okay.Build quality is great no major repairs yet.Appearance is fine,interior perfect exterior fair.gas mileage fair,maintenance is fair too.fun to drive.i hate the braking and like the color. Not bad for a first car. Comfortable seats and brisk handling give make it a fun car to drive. Braking is awesome. I'm more of a boy racer type, so I don't like the engine setup very much since it lacks hp. Got it at 115K and even after all of those digits, it runs pretty damn smooth! Overall, its a great first time car which can be used for learning how to drive, although not something to invest your money in. Nov 27, 2008

Once I updated the front rotors (slotted) and brake pads (ceramic) along with new Bridgestone Potenza 009s at the corners, it handles and brakes fine. I also added a K&N filter, and run Castrol Syntec. I get just under 40MPG on average and wouldn't trade it, except for something a little more comfortable and/or safer, but then I'd be leaving the good economy factor...Oct 25, 2008

Performance - acceleration, braking, superb like hell.
Appearance - interior with All Black & exterior styling Rocks.
Cost of Ownership - maintenance cost is bit high than other cars.

If you are looking for a simple first car, here is your car! The car was good in Winter weather, gas mileage was great, oil changes were easy. The interior and exterior of the car was simple and basic-not very good quality. Overall, it was okay, but not recommended for car enthusiasts.Sep 06, 2008

The performance of the car is just satisfactory. The handling is ok, the braking is not bad but the acceleration is quite poor. The build quality is very good except that its body is not robust enough. Its appearance is very good and its interior is relatively good.

I like the fact that I can take forty dollars and fill up my gas tank. Also the fact that I can average upwards of forty miles to the gallon. It is a car that has good acceleration and is very durable and dependable. So far it has not had any major problems.Aug 21, 2008

A leak in a Honda Civic EX
I have already replaced the lower radiator hose and I have replaced the thermostat. I also had to replace the coolant reservoir due to it having a huge hole towards the bottom of it. Now, I was on the hwy and I looked down to see my car was running very hot. Once it cooled, I put refilled it but it continued to leak water but the leak is towards the rear of the engine, this time. What could cause a leak as i've discribed?
