I really love this car. It gets great gas milage, makes great u-turns, parks in pretty much anywhere because it's small. I love it because I'm very short and I can control it very well and see over the steering wheel, back window, sides, and all around very easily.Sep 15, 2013

I had a 2004 Chevy Aveo for 4 years and it was a neat little car. I would readily get another one if they made it in a convertible. I had the hatchback and when you fold down the rear seat, you can get alot of cargo space. I once carried 2 full-size bicycles in the back (with the front tires removed).Mar 19, 2012

Its a really nice car, but its very light. GM Should make it heavier and make the body parts stronger. Its Engine is about 1600 CC's not very powerfull but its great for a car in that size. Its really fun to drive arround because it has a low sound engine even when you're stepping on the accelerator.Oct 19, 2011

This car rides a little sloppy, but it's not as bad as some cars I've
driven like the HHR. The timing belt always goes on these so I have to
get that done. The previous owner got lots of scrapes and some dents
but I actually like the appearance of the vehicle. It has some nice
touches both inside and out. I was actually surprised at how many
little things this car has that most people take for granted. Lots of cup
holders, a sunglasses case, sunroof, remote entry built into the key,
and more. I'm really going to enjoy driving this to its grave and getting

Under powered between 3/4, not had any repairs done,looks good,very good mpg,my whole family likes it. Taught a young boy to drive this from scratch, still got original clutch.some parts are hard to reach.MPG!!!Noisy when on highway,good all round visability,abit short on legroom for a very tall person when driving,right leg presses against the console .Jul 03, 2010

I love my little car, i tweaked it for lots of zip, corners like its on rails, easy to park! Its nice to ride it too. Very comfy. It's a chevy! I's mine, so you can't have it. HAHA.

Overall, I think the aveo is a nice little car. It's head-on competitor for 2004 was the Toyota Echo, Which in my mind was a little turd visually by comparison. The Aveo provides decent throttle feedback for it's small engine displacement and brings in great fuel economy. The Build quality is above agerage, but the materials are lacking slightly. The dash and interior plastics are similar to other GM's of that era, lots of hard grey plastic. The good news about the interior is that for a stock radio package, the 4 speaker Mp3 CD player puts out a good level of sound quality. The Aveo looks good, well rounded and offers a solid, quiet ride. The only two quabbles I have with the aveo are, handling and one comfort feature. When pushed into a corner, it feels awfully top heavy due to its high ceiling. and the lack of an available cruise control feature in 2004 makes long journey's a bit less comfy. However, the car is USEFUL! the hatch opens to a split folding rear seat, that will tip and flip over to create a massive 42cu ft. of rear cargo capacity. I recently drove my aveo over 500 miles, with a collie dog and two suitcases in the back and a front passenger. The car is also very fun. It is spunky, cute and they come in a variety of great colors.Aug 14, 2009

the car has a nice torque curve if you drive manual. the handling is spot on. i loved the manual gear box. the hood is very short. the car comes very basic very basic if you go cheap but this is what the car was built for to be cheap. Jun 16, 2009

car was a good beat car it got u point a to point be my car was the first year and has it met it end was the car thememstat house exploeded and came off instead making it bolt on like a normal company would they made a screw on peice and it just rust inside threads and pop while i was driving and cook the engine on newer model they made the part a bolt on also body dent super easy u can press on it wrong and dent itSep 18, 2008

Couldn't stand it. You could switch gears without hitting the breaks. Yeah for a 4 cylender it had some get up and go but those hampsters sucked. The car was reasonable on price. Everytime that I would "play around" in the car I seriously felt like I was going to crack it because it looked like a damn egg!!!Aug 13, 2008

This little car works really well if you are trying to get good gas millage however, if you are looking for a car with power do not get this car. Like I said this car works really well for good gas millage but has 0 power. It has 109hp so it doesnt really have any get up and go. I average 40mpg on highway and 27-30city.Jun 06, 2008

Good car to get from A to B, if you don't want anyone else to go with you. Geared too high. Could get better gas mileage if the engine wasn't running 3200 rpm at 75 mph. Really long throw in the manual transmission and not very precise feeling. Not the worst car I've ever seen, but not a recommendation.Mar 17, 2008

At 60K miles, the timing belt snapped and destroyed the engine, bending valves and cracking pistons. GM refused to honor this as a warranty repair as it was 200 miles past due even though I had scheduled the service before the warranty expired. Even though the car was only two years old, the repair cost more than the car's wholesale value. If you own one of these or are considering buying one, change your timing belt every 45K miles! This car is poorly designed and poorly constructed... but what can you expect for the cheap price they fetch? Just keep a spare engine handy... you will need it.Mar 09, 2008

This is a small car that is very comfortable to use for long journeys. The suspension is stable and gives a comfortable ride. Too bad the engine and the manual transmission doesn't have a really good performance. The fuel consumption is average, nothing special about it.
The interior is quite roomy and the luggage compartment is quite big for a car its size.

In the four years we've had our Aveo, it has been back to the dealer 22 times, 8 on the back of a tow truck. At 43000 km, it has had two sets of pistons, 4 cylinder heads, four head gaskets, fifth thermostat (it still does not heat up in winter) the wiper arms have fallen off the car while on the interstate twice, the car had to be driven non stop for four hours through rural minnesota because the gear selector was locked in drive, creaky suspension, water in the oil, constantly stalling, poor fuel milage for a 1.6 l and the latest is that it leaks corbon monoxide into the cab. And the GM support. What support. They refuse to take the car back saying it has to bereak down a "few more times" . I gave up a 1991 Mazda protege with 300 000 km on it for this...and that car is still on the road.Feb 10, 2008

2004 Aveo Why when the timing belt breaks it does so much damage, the car was running fine on the highway all at once it dies I coasted onto the shoulder.
Driving on the highway the car suddenly died, when on the shoulder I depressed clutch pedal turned key..nothing. The GMC shop were I had it towed phoned me and said the belt had failed and then told me I would need a new head etc, this is going to add up to $4-5ooo does this sound right- No noise no warning died
