toyota avalon xls 2003 NO SOUND!
so i have no sound coming from my speakers the raido turns on,but no darn sound..can someone please help me thank yoi.

The 2003 Toyota Avalon got a small makeover from the previous year, sporting a new front and rear end, new gauges, and a few more high-end options for the XLS, including a DVD navigation system with remote control and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The 2003 Toyota Avalon comes in two trim levels, the XL and the more luxurious XLS. Both trims come standard with a 3.0-liter, 210 horsepower V6 engine. The XL is nicely equipped, including an AM/FM/cassette sound system and cruise control. The XLS includes a few more niceties, like an upgraded sound system, alloy wheels, and a theft-deterrent system. The XLS also comes with option of front bucket seats or a three-seater bench. Fuel efficiency is 21/29 mpg.
Drivers like the 2003 Toyota Avalon for its excellent handling and luxury-car-like feel. They also appreciate the generous amount of leg room and trunk space the car offers, and say that for a car of its class, it gets good gas mileage. Many owners find the dashboard gauges and radio display to be difficult to read in the sun, and others find the styling to be too conservative.

I picked one up in the summer of 2020 with 106kmi for $2500 and that car was easily one of my favorites to drive. It had an in-dash 6-disk CD changer, heated seats, dual power seats and was comfy as get out all while averaging about 23mpg. I sold it for about $4K after fixing a couple things with it but miss that car sorely. Cost of maintenance is low besides the essential timing belt service and because of the Toyota Tax, local shops were asking $1200 for what should be at most an $800 job. But these vehicles routinely make well over 200,000 miles provided you take care of their maintenance items. Toyota knocked it out the park w/ this early 2000s American-styled big sedan. While this car was primarily a commuter, we also used it for long road trips and it was these road trips where I really loved this car. The cabin was roomy, quiet and the car felt solid, I really like the waterfall dash and we never had a problem with it (we traded at 75,000 miles).
One of the features which was handy was the power plug on the back of the console where we could plug our gadgets (laptop) into. We didn't use it very often but it's the only car we ever had with an outlet and it would be nice to have one again.
If you are looking for reliable transportation that is comfortable, this is your car. If you are looking for sporty handling, go to the 2005 or newer Avalon as that will give you a more sporty feel with the large cabin, comfortable ride and all kinds of bells and whistles.

I don't have anything bad to say about this car. I have put on nearly 150,000 miles and the only non-routine maintenance on this car has been rear wheel bushings for $120 and shocks and struts for about $900, everything else has been by the book. I am pleased with it. Aug 30, 2013

Bought new and have enjoyed the smooth ride, great mileage and the automatic wipers are amazing. Heated seats have also been nice. Storage in trunk is good and the doors open wide so that it is easy to get in and out of all seats. Dec 10, 2011

I've been a Toyota fan since my first Avalon (97). Great performance. High quality. Low cost maintenance. Good looking and fun to drive the family around. Put an aftermarket leather kit in it and thinking about an Inalfa sunroof if I keep it for a few more years.Mar 28, 2011

The car performs ok, but its steering is way to light with absolutely no feel or response. It has a very smooth and quiet ride, but its transmission sometimes shifts abruptly and is slow to downshift when more power is needed. The interior is very comfortable with a decent but very easy to use sounds system with 6 disc changer. The reliability of my particular car was good for the first 5 or so years, but lately has had its check engine light come on about once a month, which is way to high for any vehicle, yet alone a Toyota, which is known for its excellent reliability reputation.Apr 12, 2009

I bought my 2003 Avalon new and overall I've been very happy with it. Other than taking the car in for scheduled maintenance, I've only had a few minor problems (e.g. dead battery 9 months after buying the car). I have 34000 miles on it now and there are still no rattles or squeeks (even though I drive in a city full of potholes). The car still drives smoothly and the interior is roomy and quiet.Nov 19, 2007

White Smoke from exhaust?
Hello. I have a 2003 Toyota Avalon with over 200000 miles. I went to work at noon today and I did not notice anything amiss. When I left work at 7 PM, though, a lot of white smoke came from my exhaust when I started the car and it did not go away immediately. I thought it had a slight oil smell. I had no choice but to drive it home, which is ten minutes away. As I drove, I could no longer see the smoke, although it was pretty dark by then. I did not feel or hear anything unusual as I drove and I made it back to my house without overt issues. When I got home, I looked under the hood with a flashlight and I saw nothing unusual and I could not smell anything off. I did not check the oil since I wanted to let the engine cool down from driving. There were no warning lights on my dash. I will take it to the shop tomorrow morning, but I am worried that there might be a serious problem that I do not have the money to fix.

How can I reset my computer system after battery dies. Navigation screen no longer responds.
Battery died when I was having a new stereo put in. They charged it, but now my navigation screen doesn't come on. I did get it on once- tried to adjust my clock, but the buttons didn't make the hours/minutes change. Now I can't get the screen on at all. I'm guessing the "charging" cooked her brains a little bit, but I'm trying to find a way to.... un-cook her. It makes the beep noise when I push the display button, but nothing shows up on the inboard screen. If anyone can offer any advice - I would GREATLY appreciate it. She's a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS and she's my baby!
