I owned a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero ---- and it was a V-6 and the best car I have ever owned ----- Had to sell in a divorce auction. It is comfortable, Reliable and fast. Looking for a great replacement.Mar 18, 2020

This was a great car til the end. It had very little problem mainly because it sat for a year. It was my first car and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice car with good MPG The Oldsmobile Alero is your choice!Jul 22, 2011

I love the coupe! I've considered a 4 door but I can't bring myself to change. The Alero has a lot of space and is very comfortable to ride and drive in. The exterior is firm and held up well in a crash for me. I drove a 1999 Alero GLS Coupe and unfortunately totaled it in an accident. I was so impressed with the way it held up with the hit that I decided to buy the same car again only this time newer! I feel safe in my Alero and would reccomend it to anyone!May 02, 2011

comfy, acceptable gas mileage, good stereo, nice looking especially for the price, long lasting engine, mine has over 200000 and going strong. It costs about 35 dollars to fill it up and it lasts about 2 weeks usually for me.Jan 05, 2011

Performance: Good handling, braking. Lacks power in some situations
Quality: Very good, no problems so far, just had to refill fluids and regular maintenance
Appearance: Sexy gold color. Chick magnet
Cost: good gas mileage and easy maintenance
Fun: agile and pretty fun to drive

It has a nice look for it's class of car (compared to sunflowers and cavaliers), it has a curvy/slick body and a decent interior for a 2003. There is quite a bit of room in the back for a 2-door... Handling is great, braking is great, acceleration sucks... but thats just the deal when you buy this kind of car. It's not bad on gas, depending on how you drive it. Thanks to the handling and its cute look, the car is fun to drive... but I would like more acceleration/speed. Just gonna have to spend the money for it with a new car later one!Apr 07, 2010

Only problem i had that the spring in the trunk broke 2 times, but i think it was do to pot holes on the road;)
othervise very comfortable, quiet, acccelerate fast, braking good....worst thing is the tax on it, but this is the facts of life in every aeria.Feb 18, 2010

this is the greatest car evaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! very durable and have driven back and forth from san diego to san antonio and definetely worth the investment. it is absolutely a fun car to drive if you have the right sound system and music.Jan 25, 2010

For the price, totally destroys anything in a similar price range such as a neon, sunfire, cavalier, etc The ride is fairly decent, and paired up with the standard 5 speed transmission it has great acceleration as well. Only repair needed was a wheel bearing and for a 6 year old car that's pretty good. the exterior is pretty sharp on the coupe, minus the enormous rear lights. Interior on the GX is fairly basic. It gets good gas millage if driven economically and maintenance is cheap. It is very fun to drive, and handles great with very little body roll. throttle is very responsive.Oct 04, 2009

brakes need a good fixin...when you step on the break the car kinda jurks to a stop.
It's got alot of "get up and go" in her....she accelerates pretty quick. She ain't a bad car to drive for a first car when ur 17-18.Sep 07, 2009

It's a good car, however the fourways keep making a clicking sound and GM doesnt want to fix it! Its fast, not the fastest but it moves, I just wish the fourways would stop making a clicking sound and the stearing needs to be firmer for the power it has.May 17, 2009

overall this is a fun car to drive keeping in mind that it is not a race car or a high end sports car. the Alero's have excellent leg room and head room making it easy for tall people to comfortably drive. performance wise the Alero was Available with 4 or 6 cylinder engines the 6 cylinder 3400 power plant came with about 170 hp and the 4 cylinder with 150 hp in the older 2.4L engine and 140hp in the newer 2.2L. unfortunately the car's were built with run of the mill suspension systems that were far from impressive and gave the car ugly wheel gap. Appearance wise the car is rather sporty for a family car and with little research and custom modifications you can make the Alero even more appealing. although the interior is rather weak. as for the cost in owning Alero is pretty much the same as any other economical American made car, but keep in mind these cars will require regular maintenance and you can expect your average ware and tear. and for anyone looking to modify their Alero there are plenty of parts and accessories available for the Alero, but you'll have to put in a little bit of research. i love this car. its the way american cars should be. it feels solid. it has a a sweet engine even though it a v6 it sounds great and runs great. i wish oldsmobile was still around but there not so its sad fore me. its pretty much the same thing as a pontiac grand am exceot the alero is much luxury than sporty. i has a sweet sound system that came with it stock. i bought off some couple who needed to get rid of it fast so i got a great deal on my baby. the handling on it is good. not as good as bmw or some other expensive cars but it fine for me.Aug 21, 2008

Love the look and ride. The eco-tec engine is much better than the engine before. It handles higher speeds well, and doesn't feel the excelleration as bad as previous engines in its class.
I don't like steel rims and hub caps in general, but the difference on this car is night and day. Aluminium rims look so much nicer on the Alero.Aug 18, 2008

I would recomend this car to everyone because is chic sporty and very comfy. The performance of this car is great i have no complaints abouy it. My car is red and let me tell you what she is soooo fun to drive. I think i've wasted $100 in gas just because i think its fun to drive!Aug 15, 2008

It gets awesome gas milage and is a very comfortable car to drive. I have driven it over 2000 miles and back and was such a smooth ride.The car handles well and is fun to drive. Has a good stock stereo system and ample trunk storage space as well. The only thing wrong with this car is it is easily dented as it is not made of steel.Jul 17, 2008

I have a 2003 Alero with the V6. Somewhere in the life of this car before I got it someone replaced the front passenger side CV axle meant for the automatic transmission with the CV meant for the standard transmission. Is there any idea what the problem with doing that is?

tonight after leaving home I turned to go on the interstate and my car started to make some clunky sounds while I lost some brake pressure,so I babied it home and seen it smoking and also fiery red
While driving tonight my car started to make a loud clunking sounds from the front right side area but not having funds for a tow I pushed it home and upon arriving and inspecting the car I noticed smoke and smelled burned metal/brake pad so I took it apart to learn the pads were fine with no real wear since I just replaced both front complete brake setups.so after inspection I determined the pads and rotars were fine so at that point I put it back together and went for a test drive only to discover that it's still doing the same thing and smoking as we'll making weird clunking noises in motion just this time the rotar on same wheel was so hot it was red and the weather up here is estimated 30-35 degrees right now so idk why it's doing this and it leaves me at a standstill unsure what's wrong with this cars and its brakes , which this is why I've reached out to you hoping that maybe you will be able to help and assist me with an answer along with maybe a solution to fix and repair what needs to be done and if it's not to much to ask for but maybe some advice about this so in case I ever have the problem again or I can help someone else to know what is wrong cuz I'm out of thoughts and options for any conclusion so I pray for your help and respectfully James Guerin.Plattsburgh,New York Again thank you for your time and help and consideration for/to this question hope to get a response back from you soon along with an helpful answer ttyl thanks bye
