Boasting more curves than an issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, the 2003 Audi TT lets everyone pretend to be James Bond behind the wheel (tux not provided). The 2003 TT comes as a Coupe or convertible Roadster, with a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at either 180-hp or 225-hp. In 2003, the 180-hp models are front-wheel drive only, with no quattro option. The higher horsepower models have been and are still offered only with AWD quattro.
Also in 2003, 180-hp base models are paired with a new 6-speed Tiptronic transmission, which allows you to engage in semi-manual shifting with the touch of a button, and gets better performance out of the limited engine. The 225-hp models are offered with 6-speed manual tranny only. On the outside, the 2003 Audi TT gets a new grille and updated badging. The convertible is a soft-top that can be removed manually in the base Roadsters or electrically in the 225-hp Roadster. The power top is optional on the base model. To combat wind interference and noise, a windscreen pops up behind the front headrests. When up, a glass rear window offers better visibility than plastic ones in other convertibles.
The 2003 TT is all about looks. Domed and rounded, low to the ground and all wheels, it looks like it's bursting with energy. Though sharing a frame with the Beetle, the TT is loved by owners for its unique styling. Its performance is top-notch, say most, especially the responsive and crisp handling around curves, tight turn radius, and quattro capability in bad weather conditions. Inside, the sports seats are comfy, and the optional heated seats feature is recommended. Downsides include poor rear visibility with the top up, making parking difficult, and difficulty getting in and out of the TT without banging your head. The placement of the power window switches is awkward, and the ride can be noisy. Reliability is questionable, and owners report lots of little problems with the electrics.

I give it 5 stars, although, that would be for the 3.2L engine. The turbo lag on the 1.8L is a bit bothersome. The style is timeless. The design continuum is 100%. Ive owned two and am looking for a third. I also prefer it as a coupe. Apr 01, 2022

2003 Audi TT with only 84K miles looked like a great buy at $13K. Manual transmission is a challenge for me after 40 years but this car is fun to drive. Car is in great shape for a 2003. Convertible roof goes up and down easily. Aug 07, 2021

This car has great looks and gets a lot of compliments. It's stylish and sleek. It's AWD and low profile give great grip especially when getting up highway ramps when the turbo blows in to get you to highway speed. Not the best long distance cruiser, although the leather buckets are comfortable enough. Lots of room for storage in the hatch, but no room for passengers in the back seat (unless they are headless and legless). Worlds WORST cupholders. Every TT I've ever heard of has a broken glove box - $700 repair from Audi.

I always wanted a TT...she was my dream. I have loved having her and never felt more protected than being in her hands. Unfortunately, moving from California to Idaho has changed the circumstances with weather and she isn't meant to be in the snow. Front wheel drive doesn't make it easy to drive in winter.Aug 09, 2011

Performance is just good. acceleration 0-60 in 4.6, braking not bad and handling is very good with sway bar.
build quality i had to repair the water radiator once already.Appearance is good looking and very cute. exterior is good and interior is not too much to see of the color. It's a black interior. Cost of Ownership: 37,500+ gas mileage, maintenance cost less/more.

The TT is a pretty nice car to drive on a nice day. It has
that nice turbo sound and you can really hear it with
the top down. The acceleration is decent but i've
driven better. it gets 0-60 in about 6 seconds. The
handling is great, it sticks to the ground like nobody's
business with the all wheel drive. The only real
downsides are that the sound system is pretty weak

A wonderful car, has good performance (1.8 lt, 20 valve, 225 HP), handles like a train on a track. With the 6-speed gearbox you feel the need to drive, and get the adrenalin flowing as the turbo eases through the revs to the limiter. No need for large amounts of cash for gas as you keep it cruising. Play with the pedal to the metal, then the pennies start to count, but worth the fun. The days in summer can be a bummer, but with the top down you wear your crown, just like a king gets his looks, so do you. Money well spent. Aug 19, 2008

Beautiful styling and excellent handling. Really sticks to the road. Servicing is relatively cheap, with 18000 mile service intervals and cam belt change at 115000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes sooner.Jun 15, 2008

Sleek, elegant, refined, quick, confident, sailing, crisp handling... Just a few words that come to mind. Granted, it's only a turbo inline 4, but it's push injected, and it's light for its 225hp with good torque, giving it enough kick to be pleasant on the open road and absolutely spectacular in the canyons, where it was meant to soar.
