2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Preview summaryImage

The only notable new feature for the 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser was that the third-row seat, and therefore rear climate control, became standard.

The 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser came in one, well-equipped trim level. The engine was a 4.7-liter 230 horsepower V8. The only available transmission was a four-speed automatic, and the four-wheel-drive was permanently engaged. The '02 Land Cruiser seated eight, with a removable third-row seat for extra storage. Fuel economy was about 14/16 mpg.

Drivers love the 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser because it is well equipped to handle snow, mud, and other off-road situations, but it is also well appointed with luxury features, making it a comfortable car to cruise around town. Owners also love the roomy interior and reliability. Some do complain that the car gets terrible gas mileage, and others say that the third row seat is quite small.

This was one of the most ultimate off road trucks I've had. I took it on off road vehicle parks in upstate South Carolina and it outperformed my buddy's similarly suited Land Rover. Very comfortable daily commuter.. if you can afford the MPG's. Loved tinkering with it but couldn't afford the gas mileage thanks to the Great Recession, so had to sell it.Jul 17, 2012

Feb 27, 2010

Wow! I hate what Toyota is going through. I have owned NOTHING since I have been able to drive but Hondas & Toyotas. ( I'm sorry I did own a BRAND new Ford Mustang...for 3 weeks...sold it because the motor rusted in it...never even made 1 payment) I can't imagine what all of the owners of the recalled models have gone through but I have not had ANY problems...not one since owning my 02' LandCruiser if they have a problem I will have to deal with that then but I have NO intention of selling or trading but if I was shopping for a new car would be right back at Toyota. Let me say I also own a 01' Toyota MR2 Spyder which I WOULD NEVER part with! This space isn't large enough for me to give the true amout of my feelings for this car let me just say I ADORE IT! These 2 vehicles are owned by ME have been kept up by Toyota ONLY. Within my family besides my 2 Toyotas, my husband owns a Lexus ES330 (which we purchased because his son was going of to college and need a DEPENDABLE car to get back & forth from Mobile to Tusacaloosa, he was driving my husband 98 FORD F150 with many problems this was not even a yr ago) so the Toyota Avalon XLS that was ALSO purchased by ME brand new in 03', (prior to our marriage) when I found the the MR2 I sold the Avalon myself did not trade...he found out it was for sale and bought it HE lived here in Mobile and had never seen the vehicle but new I loved it and to this day the vehicle is still with me (technically) w/ approx. 180K miles. His youngest son drives a O2' Toyota 4Runner which we purchased used (1 owner) has had it 2 yrs it was a present for his b'day @ 16 never a problem. My oldest son has a Toyota LandCruiser as well and a Toyota Tundra. My youngest son has had many vehicles not 1 being a Toyota...but has had problems with each and every FORD (3-4 of those) and DODGE (2-3 of those 1 was a yr old I HAVE never had ANY vehicle around me in the shop like that one! I hope some one sits down to figure out how many recalls Ford,Dodge,GMC etc has had in there history. What I believe is that Toyota will do whatever it takes to fix these issues no matter what it takes I hope people give them the chance to make this right but as for me if I was shopping for a new car Toyota is ABSOLUTLY where I would be!Feb 18, 2010
