The Town & Country got a few minor changes for 2002, largely directed toward features and options. Power adjustable pedals, rear seat audio controls, and a DVD entertainment system were available. A new eL trim was added, offering a lower-priced entry point for the Town & Country.
Buyers chose from eight Town & Country variants: the base eL, the EX, the moderately equipped LX, the well-appointed LXi, or the ultra-luxurious Limited. The LX, LXi, and Limited were all available with FWD or AWD. The eL and EX were only front-wheel drive.
Only the new eL and LX trims were powered by the 3.3-liter Flex Fuel V6, which delivered 180 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission routed power to the front wheels on these two models, and fuel economy was estimated at 18/24 mpg. The other six models housed the 3.8-liter OHV V6 and were supplied with 210 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. A special towing package could be added, which enabled the hauling of 3,800 pounds.
Most of the raves for the Town & Country were directed toward the upper trim levels: LXi and Limited. The automatic sliding doors and power rear hatch were often cited as favorite convenience features. Owners also mentioned the quality of the Infinity sound system and the new DVD entertainment system. Interior comfort and ride quality were at the top of the list for every model.
Owners of the LXi and Limited models had the luxury of more distractions from Chrysler's build quality issues. Frequent complaints included failed window motors, an unrefined transmission, short brake life, and annoying squeaks and rattles. Those who had multiple dealings with Chrysler service were even more unsatisfied. Poor service was a major issue for Chrysler owners.

i just don't like the fact that these have soo many problems , just one thing after another,and i did own 5 American made cars : Sunbird, Dodge omni,Charger 2.2 , Dodge Van,and this T& C 2002. All did not last more than 100000 without me spending money to fix,from starter,to transmission,to heater. Why can't they do a better job than those japanese cars makers? Since then,i have Honda CRX,Toyota Cressida,ran well over 250000 miles with only cost of oil changes ,breaks and tires.Jan 30, 2015

I had my drivers test in it and it wasso nice I new where the end was unlike my town car which Is a boat and you don't know where the very front or the very back is it has a small engine so it is easy to get around in

I have taken out the middle seat and I use it to transport my power wheelchair. I have a very light ramp that I can lift myself so I can go anywhere I like. I will keep my van until it won't run anymore.Aug 15, 2014

The leather bucket seats are well postured and very comfortable, more so than any minivan in recent years (up to 2012). The engine held up extremely well. Though not the smoothest to start, the power and performance held up surprisingly well through the years. There is no noticeable difference in smoothness and noise when compared with when new even after 9 years & 100k miles.
The engine oil seals do start to leak after about 80k miles, but are quite easy to replace.

just a good all around family van. great heaters front back and in the seats. engine has seem to always leak alittle oil. good performance for what it is. wife won't give it up for anything. We'll drive it till it's rust or the wheels all fall off.Dec 06, 2011

Recently had family staying with us, 4 adults and two young children total in complete comfort. It may not be fun, but what it is, is a people carrier. Its by far the best vehicle for this purpose with comfort.Feb 18, 2010

No problems to speak of in 95,000 miles. Power lift hatch contacts have needed cleaning or power function doesn't work. Otherwise its been great. This Family van is FUN to drive :)....well OK enjoyable. The front seats are road trip comfortable.Oct 14, 2009

My mom has driven this minivan since 2003, this has been a good car for my family. It is comfortable, "zippy" for a minivan, and very reliable. We had the transmission give out not too long after we bought it but it was still under warrenty so that wasn't much of a problem. Sinmce then, nothing major has ever gone wrong with it. We were a year too early for "stow and go" seating so whenever I'd use it to hual something that couldn't be hauled in my pickup I had to take the heavy cumbersome seats out and find a place to hide them while we were using the van to haul things. The van also has a real nice stereo in it, nicer than you'd think for a minivan. All in all a great family car.Mar 19, 2008

Umm only driving it 2 weeks but love it !! As I have read before - engine vibration and sound is a little noticable when sitting idle but not intrusive and quieter when compressor is off. Once you take off down the road its smooth smooth smooth right away!! GMar 04, 2008

VERY comfortable and VERY nice vehicle, can be SOMEWHAT noisy, but overall ok. As of yet, we have had no major mechanical problems, and ours has VERY low mileage. Only 34,000. Fairly easy to maintain, but it IS a minivan.Jan 21, 2008

We take many long trips with van and it has been very dependable. I keep the service up religiously and change oil on a regular basis.

I have not been able to use my back hatch remote...it only worked for a short period of time.

the van has no leaks and all fluids are fine the hoses are hot and after a wile little if any heat comes thru the vents they blow fine and the van drives well could it be the thermostat ?

2002 Chrysler Town and Country completely dead, don't think it's battery.
2002 Chrysler Town and Country was sitting in driveway for a few months and the battery was dead. Jumped the battery and everything lit up, power seats worked, but as soon as I tried to start it while still hooked up to live jumper cables everything died. It won't even click when the key is turned. Could it be a fuse? I checked the one labeled "battery", but it seemed good. I have limited car repair experience, but can do just about anything once I get the right info. Thanks in advance for any advice.

2002 Chrysler Town & Country Limited Speed
I know this is a faster speed than you think you'd need a minivan for, but just bear with me. When you get this old 2002 T&C up to about 95mph, it won't go any faster and the inside (cab) starts to get hot. Im not the smartest when it comes to the mechanical side of cars. What would be causing this?
