The 2000 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning continued to hold its own as Ford's niche offering in the performance truck market. Racy styling and a lower, easy-handling ride enhanced its street-smart profile, as did its custom 18-inch wheels. The cool-looking truck came off the line in silver for the first time in the 2000 model year, in addition to the previous year's red, white, and black.
But the real appeal of the 2000 Ford F150 SVT Lightning was the power under its hood. Its supercharged 5.4 liter Triton V8 put out 360 horsepower and an impressive 440 ft/lbf of torque. Drivers and reviewers praised its quick acceleration and responsive handling.
The 2000 SVT Lightning didn't offer buyers a broad range of choices, though. Four colors, one configuration (a two-door standard cab short-bed setup), and automatic transmission only were what shipped out of Michigan. The lack of variety certainly didn't stop buyers from snapping up the limited production run, though; you won't find many of these on the resale market.

the most versitile sports vehical on the planet. 380hp stock.... few mods to pump over 400hp and 500tq and seriously eat up anything you encounter on the street. Very fun truck to drive. great value for your money also and hold their value. May 30, 2010

Thia was my dream truck for many years...even back when the 1st Gen Models were being released. So I am biased. I am sure there will always be someone else with a faster ride...but in short, this truck eats imports for breakfast. Yo! Boys with the 4-Cylinder toy! Where are the other 4-cylinders of your engine.
But, in all seriousness, I will update this with all the bells and whistles that have gone on the truck so far in the near future. May 21, 2010

The acceleration is amazing. Will take anything off the line. Braking is decent for a truck but handling is amazing for being a truck. Doesnt need repairs much. The appearance of it is Awesome. Gas mileage is about 10 miles to the gallon. It is a great truck to drive!!!Jul 29, 2008

I test drove this Lightning at the same time as the other F-150. I loved the power that it had, but it was relatively slow getting up to speed. A slight disappointment for me. Unfortunately, it also sucked down the gas like there was no tomorrow. However, I did like the spacious interior and the leg room.Jul 31, 2007
