The 2001 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning didn't just rest on its laurels; Ford upgraded the performance truck's engine, boosting its power considerably. The supercharged 5.4 liter Triton V8 was tweaked by the folks in design, enabling it to put out 380 horsepower and 450 ft/lbf of torque. Modifications to the basic F-150 chassis and suspension gave the 2001 Ford F150 SVT Lightning the agility and responsiveness to handle this much power. The Lightning rode lower than its workhorse sibling, and its 18-inch wheels gave it a street-smart profile. Swooping, curvilinear style and comfort interiors made this one pickup that felt like a sportscar. The 2001 SVT Lightning came in one configuration, a two-door standard cab short-bed stepside model, and in automatic transmission only. I traded my Cobra Mustang for this vehicle. I thought "it's a truck" and I can deal with it not being a Mustang. No...it's a Mustang with a bed on it. The supercharger make beautiful noises. Seriously fast and great to drive on trips. Add some more boost and it's almost the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

You can haul stuff, or you can haul ass, your choice. Either one would be done well with this truck, all around it has the BEST fuel economy of all my cars, average 24mpg both city and highway.

I have had 3 lightnings, and this one is by far the best one so far. Lots of great towing ability, racing ability. The only bad part is the gas mileage, but the value is very stable, which helps offset that cost.

One of a kind truck that was of limited production. A supercharged engine with a sports suspension makes this daily driver so extraordinary. Has many other practical features including towing capability, standard half ton truck bed. A pleasure to own and drive.

It is built like a sports car but is a pick up, u can with alot of performance cars but still haul wood or a camper around.
